Original Tempurpedic (Classic and Deluxe) modern equivalents finally revealed

I was on the Tempurpedic website and in the chat I told them that I had one of the original mattresses (Deluxe). They stated that the closest current mattress would be the Pro Adapt Firm. I went to a mattress store and yes it feels like the Classic 8 inch original which was quite firm. Which mattress feels like the slightly softer Deluxe? Luxe Adapt Firm. Back around 2000, I went back and forth between Classic and Deluxe, and determined that the Deluxe was better for me because it was firm with support, but it had a bit more comfort. I went to the store 4 times trying it out.

To review:

Tempurpedic Pro Adapt Firm = Classic Original 8 inch (circa 2000)
Tempurpedic Luxe Adapt Firm = Deluxe Original 10 inch (circa 200)

Im going back and forth between the 2 mattresses. I think I am leaning toward Luxe Adapt Firm…just too comfortable and conforming. I think PAF would be better for my back. Im a 90% back sleeper, 10% side sleeper. 5 feet 11 inches at 223 pounds. I simply don’t like latex. I went to a few stores that had latex and I was trying to convince myself that I like latex…but its not happening. I don’t like latex. Latex does feel good, but I think the Tempurpedic memory foam felt better.

I hope this helps someone.

John

Just keep in mind the feel (ILDs) of both poly and memory foams might be the same or similar but the durability (density in lb/ft3) will likely be quite a bit different from what you would have purchased back then (ie support may break down quite a bit quicker than it did on past mattresses). That said latex and poly/memory foams have a very different feel to them so preference can certainly be the major deciding factor when picking which mattress works best for you.
