I need to purchase a queen mattress for a panel bed. It is for a rental house in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
Would like it to be between 14" and 15" deep, no box spring. Would like to stay under $1000.00.

I would choose a mattress for a panel bed the same way I would choose any other mattress except of course your choices would be more limited in terms of thickness (and perhaps in weight). The first thing I would suggest is to read post #1 here and the information it links to which will give you the basic information you will need to make the best choices for your circumstances and budget.
Who you exclude (major manufacturers and chain stores especially) and which manufacturers or retailers you focus on (local or independent manufacturers that are sold either factory direct or through better sleep shops) can be even an even more important factor in ending up with the most suitable mattress with the best quality and value than trying to decide on the best mattress without first connecting with people who have the experience and knowledge to help you make the best choices.
