Our master bedroom has an attached bath with no door between it and the bedroom - and no exhaust vent. I currently keep the bathroom window open 24/7 to mitigate humidity from the shower, but even in SoCal, winter temps can get down into the 40s at night, which means eventually I’ll be closing the window. Local humidity varies but today, for example, it’s 57%.
My queen platform bed came with a 3.25" spaced wood slat rail. Slats are 2.75" wide, .75" thick and are currently covered in wood pegboard to compensate for the too-wide spacing.
After hearing pegboard doesn’t really provide ventilation, I’ve ordered a Savvy Rest Bed Rug and would love some input. I know the bed rug might not be necessary, but I figure better safe than sorry with the bathroom shower proximity and lack of active ventilation. We also don’t have a/c to reduce humidity.
Should I:
- Leave the pegboard, or remove it and just rely on the bed rug? Hubby is about 240 lbs or so if that helps.
- Put a cotton bed sheet between the bed rug and my SleepEZ 10" natural latex mattress? The mattress has a zippered cotton (quilted to wool) cover. Didn’t know if it the bed rug would shed fibers or potentially stain the mattress cover, but also don’t want to do something that could impede the bed rug’s purpose of allowing the bottom of my latex mattress to breath.
Thanks!
