Pocket Springs don't suit my needs?

Hello

I have already posted here before.
I live in Portugal, and I’m having a lot of difficulty finding a mattress that I like or suits my needs.

I have already tried 3 different mattress, all of them made with Pocket Springs. All of them were in lower budget range ($500) and the problem with all of them is that appeared firmer in store, than at home.

Two of them, I felt they inittially were firm but with usage, after 1-2 weeks, they became softer. The other one I think it was a problem of wrong evaluation in the store.

I didn’t liked these mattress because they are very soft, my body seamed to sink inside of them and my hips also sinked more that the other parts of my body.

I think maybe Pocket Springs don’t suit my needs. I like firmer mattress that give me good support to my back. Maybe I have to pick another type of Support Core like Bonnel Spring or some type of Foam?
What do you think? Pocket springs are always too soft? But why big European Brands (Schramm, Treca, Vispring, Elite Beds) all of them use them?

Hi mega_biscoito.

Did any of these mattresses have a foam layer on top? Or were they strictly springs?

It’s possible you need a firmer gauge from an innerspring/coil in your mattress, especially in your hips. Is it possible to located zoned mattresses in Portugal?

I’m not sure why this is a popular design for European mattresses. I have frequently traveled through Europe and I disliked every single hotel mattress I slept on. It felt like laying directly on top of the coils! It was very firm sometimes, or very springy other times. I was confused by the lack of quilting or foam in the many mattresses I slept on!

It’s hard for me to say for sure if the coils are the cause for your sinking into the mattress. It’s possible you shared this information already, but would you be comfortable sharing your height, weight, and primary sleeping position?

Thanks!

Hello,

Yes, they had foam layers on top.

I’m not sure if it´s possible to find zoned pocket springs in Portugal. This kind of springs (zoned pocket springs) are firmer in the hips area?

My height is 1,77 m (I think it’s 5 feet and 9,685 inches)
My weight is 76 Kg (I think 167,55 pounds)

I sleep in all positions. I start sleeping in my back. Then during the night I think I change to lateral position, and sometimes when I wake up I like to be in belly position.

Yes, European mattresses are how you described, specially older mattresses and mattresses made some years ago. Currently mattresses are becoming more quilted and having more foam. I think I prefer the firmer sensation, with lack of quilting and foam. I like to feel my body in a firmer surface because I feel my body stretchs more in that kind of mattress. When the mattress are not firm, when they are softer, I feel my vertebral column doesn´t stretch the same way, and I don’t like it so much.
