Portland, Maine area manufacturers

Hello and Thank You for this very interesting site.

My wife and I have a Stearns and Foster “latex” mattress we purchased in 2007 which is now so difficult to sleep on we need to replace it ASAP. We like the feel of some of the more plush mattresses we’ve seen in showrooms but the hard sales tactics and prices have me wary. Do you have any recommendations for a manufacturer within 100 miles of Portland, Maine? This would include southern to mid-coast Maine, Southern New Hampshire and down into metro Boston. Thank You for any additional information!
Pete

Hi 2CME911,

There are some high quality factory direct manufacturers or better retailers either in or very close to Portland. Some have been mentioned in several threads so I thought i would consolidate them here.

PORTLAND, ME area:

http://www.portlandmattressmakers.com/ or http://www.boatmattress.com/ Factory direct manufacturer in Portland, Windham, ME and Portsmouth, NH.

http://www.dalybros.com/ or http://www.maidenmaine.com/ Factory direct manufacturer in Biddeford, ME

BANGOR, ME area:

I have included the brands they carry (according to their sites) that I would consider on a “mattress by mattress” basis and as always make sure you can find out the details of what is inside any mattress you are considering.

Some of the better choices or at least “possibilities” in the NH area are in the Merrimack list in post #4 here and in the Portsmouth area list in post #2 here or the Topsham, VT list in post #4 here but there are not as many options as the ME or the MA choices that are available to you.

BOSTON area and south:

Some of the better choices in and around Boston and into southeast Massachusetts are in post #2 here (and there are some very good choices here).

Some of the posts and threads that mention the Boston manufacturers include …
