I can’t find any details on L&P web site or Prodigy 2 manual regarding space required for the base. Our bed has a wood frame that the current fixed base, box spring and mattress sit inside. We are replacing with a Prodigy 2 and latex mattress. The opening is 81" from headboard to inside edge of frame at feet (which has a lip and more internal room below). The headboard has some soft leather wrapped batting that comes into the bed space a few inches above the opening… about 1". I tried to draw below to illustrate what i am saying. I am trying to figure out if the Prodigy 2 base will fit in this bed frame and have enough room to raise and lower. If anyone has this adjustable base and can tell me how much room it needs to operate, I’d appreciate it!

For the Prodigy2, the leg heights are adjustable from 6"-10", resulting in top deck heights ranging from 14" – 18". The frame network supporting the top deck, and the legs, are recessed from the dimensions of the top deck. Power foundation manufacturers make the top deck of their bases usually just a bit smaller than the box spring they are designed to replace, as they are aware that many people place these within the perimeter of an existing headboard/footboard bed set. So where a queen box spring might be 60" x 80", a power foundations top deck for a queen might be 59.5" x 79.5" or so. Even if this isn’t the case (Leggett and Platt lists the Prodgy2 at 60" x 80" for the queen), the power base won’t take up a larger footprint than the queen box spring it is replacing, so generally if your bed set worked for a queen “traditional” bed set, it should work for a power foundation.
With the small diagram you’ve provided, it may be that you have to adjust the height of the legs to miss the leather batting – it just depends upon how high off of the floor this is.
