Pulled the trigger on a Bamboo Bliss king

After a lot of research and testing, along with the massive amount of information on this website, I just bought a Bamboo Bliss King bed from Brooklyn Bedding. I decided on the king because of the dual comfort layers they can accommodate as my GF and I sleep in different positions (a level 8 and level 6 respectively). I did have a concern about an indention down the middle however the rep Jacob said that when they are within 2 levels of each other, you shouldn’t notice anything.

I was pleasantly surprised to hear they have a different deal right now than the standard 5%, where they’ll give you a free foundation, or take off $200. I took the $200 off as I didn’t need a foundation.

I’ll be putting it on an Ikea Nyvoll bed frame with Sultan Laxeby slats which should be sufficient to support a latex mattress.

Thanks again for all the info in this forum, and I’ll be sure to provide an update when I receive the bed.

Hi monkified,

Thanks for the update and for letting us know what you ended up deciding.

You certainly made a great quality/value choice … and congratulations on your new mattress

You can see some comments about split comfort layers in post #2 here so they are certainly right (not surprisingly) that the only thing you will feel is the difference in firmness between the sides and not the split itself and it certainly wouldn’t be a durability issue.

I’m looking forward to any feedback you have the chance to share once you’ve received it.

I ordered a DreamFoam but haven’t decided on a firmness yet. Now I hear about the Bamboo Bliss. Hubby is about 270, and we always have a problem with his side sinking pretty bad. Been through a couple of supposedly good mattresses (keyword: supposedly) and they all sink. He also likes his side a little firmer than I, though not much. Would I do better to cancel the order before it ships and do a BB? I think I can get the different levels with the DF, but that’s not so much my concern as I am a good sleeper with no back problems and can sleep almost anywhere. I worry about him with his bulging disk and lack of gym enthusiasm. Thoughts?

Hi donutista,

The Bamboo Bliss uses a higher density base foam which would probably be more suitable for higher weights yes because at his weight he would be compressing the base layers more than people with a lighter body type so the density of the base foam would play a more significant role in the durability and useful life of the mattress.

A mattress with thicker layers of latex on top (such as the Aloe Alexis or even an all latex mattress) would be more durable yet but of course the cost would also increase with more latex in the mattress. I do think it would be a good idea to call and talk with them about your order and perhaps choosing a mattress that may be a little more suitable for his higher weight.

I emailed Chuck this morning regarding the BB. I believe this is the same company, or at least an affiliate. I feel bad about him going through so many questions with me, but I’m sure he understands the need for a product that will better suit our needs. It hasn’t shipped yet- hasn’t finished processing, so canceling should not be a problem. I don’t mind paying a bit more for a mattress that isn’t going to need to be replaced in a year’s time but I really wasn’t looking to shell out 3k, so I think we are going to stick with a layer mattress and not a full latex. I wish I’d known about the BB before I ordered the DF, but at least I’m not in it to win it yet.

Seems like I’m heading in the right direction at this point. Thanks for your input. Anything else I should know or consider with the extra info here?

Hi donutista,

Dreamfoam and Brooklyn Bedding are sister companies (see post #3 here).

Most of their staff specialize in either one or the other so if you are looking for information about a mattress that is sold by either one I would suggest talking to each one about their specific mattresses. I would avoid emails with any question that can’t be answered in a single sentence or for any question that might have an “it depends” in the answer … which is almost every question that is connected to mattresses. It can often take a long exchange of emails over a period of days before you may even reach a point of knowing which questions are most important to ask or that you didn’t realize you even needed to ask which can be done with a more detailed conversation on the phone in a matter of minutes.

Thanks for your help! I ended up cancelling the DF and going with the Aloe Alexis from Brooklyn Bedding. I caught Mario online with the chat function and he was really great about explaining the differences between the mattresses. He gave me the code for the two pillows and was also nice enough to still give me the 200.00 off for the sale that expired yesterday. I think I did really well!

I got the 3 firmness because he said that would offer more support and help with the sagging. I explained that my current mattress is a Tempurpedic and it was soooooo comfortable when we first got it- like we were sleeping on top of it, if that makes sense, and he said the 3 is most like that.

If the mattress is as good as the customer service, I’m thrilled. My son is looking for a new mattress and is waiting for us to get ours to see how he likes it. He’ll probably get the DF though because he and his wife are small/average sized, but regardless of which he goes with, I’m happy to give my money to a company that takes such an interest in its customers AND is USA made.

Hi donutista,

I’m glad you were able to switch your order and that you had a chance to experience the kind of help and service that is part of the reason that so many forum members are so happy with their Dreamfoam and Brooklyn Bedding purchase as well.

You certainly made a good quality/value choice and most importantly … congratulations on your new mattress

I’m looking forward to your feedback once you’ve received it and you’ve had the chance to sleep on it for a bit.

@ Donutista: Any updates?

The 3 is really firm. I read a review that a couple had a 5 and they said it was night and day difference to the softer 6.

I’m also curious to know your experience with the “dual comfort” / split mattress.
