Purchase Report: Parklane Pettygrove

We bought a mattress about 4 months ago - this site helped me a lot in research, so I wanted to give a report on the process and the mattress so far. Based on comments/reviews here and some other research, I decided to start with a local [Oregon] manufacturer, Parklane Mattresses, and if I found something suitable there I would stop there and make the purchase - that did work out as planned!
We were replacing a very old mattress, and wanted to upsize to a King. My husband and I are both side sleepers, but we also spend a lot of time sitting in bed (tv, on laptops,. etc). So we needed something that had a balance of underlying firmness with softer comfort layers. At the Parklane store, they suggested trying the coil mattresses with latex top layers. The one that felt the best to me (no hip pressure!] was the Pettygrove, which is individually pocketed coils with natural Talalay latex over it. It also has a foam edge for additional support at the edge. This is sort of the medium firmness option for their individually pocketed coil offerings - they also have one (softer) with a gel comfort layer, and one (firmer) with a soy latex layer.
So, we ordered the Pettygrove and it was delivered about a week later. We had bought a new platform bed, so no foundation, just the mattress on the bed’s slatted surface.
The mattress felt a little firm for the first couple of weeks, but since then it’s been very comfortable and we have been sleeping much better! (We have rotated it once for breakin and will do so again soon).
The purchase process was straightforward - no pressure in the store, as we found out the salespeople are not on commission. When ordering, we could pick our delivery window (within 2 hours) after the expected manufacturing date (as mattresses are made on order). Parklane sends two trucks out - one with the new mattresses to be delivered, and one to take away old mattresses. Delivery was within the window and they called us at about 20 minutes out to give us an alert that they would be arriving soon. The delivery people were quick and courteous. Parklane sends two trucks out - one with the new mattresses to be delivered, and one to take away old mattresses.
Overall, it was a pretty pain-free experience and we would definitely go back to Parklane if we were buying another mattress.

Hi oliviacw,

Thanks for taking the time to share your comments and experiences about your mattress and Parklane … I appreciate it.

As you probably know I think you made a great quality/value choice … and it’s great to see that things worked out so well for you.

Most importantly … congratulations on your new mattress

Thanks for the Parklane recommendation I found through this site. I visited their Portland/NE Broadway location and couldn’t have been happier w/ the selection, quality, and mellow atmosphere and salesperson. I plan on returning to do a final bed test.

While many of their beds were comfortable it’s nice to fine tune to my personal preference, something that I couldn’t have done through the online-only companies. Plus their prices are great.

Super bonus that they are transparent about their materials and I could look them up to see the quality.

Thanks!
I wasn’t paid nor solicited for this post.

Hi EricTH,

Welcome to the Mattress Forum!

I’m looking forward to learn what you decide to purchase (if you do so). As you might be aware, Parklane Mattress is a member here which means that I think highly of them.
