Pure Dunlop Mattress

Hi Phoenix!

–A very big thank-you for the site! It has been enormously helpful in buying a new mattress.

–Background: Old mattress was a queen BackSense? Comfort Select 8000—about 10 years old, sagging, very hot, back pain, horrible sleep…
—I am a woman, 54, with a bit too much weight…
—I am a total stomach sleeper and really needed a firm mattress to be comfortable

–The mattress I ended up with: queen, 7" Dunlop Latex mattress from Sleep On Latex
—I really wanted Dunlop latex instead of Talalay —I thought the Dunlop would be very firm and support me well, and that the Talalay would be too mushy.
—Placed mattress on a sprung slat bed frame that I have had for years
—First night on it was brilliant—back did not sway --Yea! Also, I did not get as hot as I had on my old mattress–Yea! Also, no squeaking of springs! nice.
—I bought the 7" mattress with the idea that I could always add another thin (1" to 2") Dunlop topper if the mattress was too firm, but I won’t know if I need it for a few more weeks.

–Company review: Sleep On Latex was a great company to work with.
—They only have Dunlop mattresses …
—The covers for the mattresses are quite nice
—They answered questions quickly and politely via emails
—They immediately gave me a 5% discount when I told them I was a member of The Mattress Underground
—Shipping was quick for large, heavy item (FedEx—took about a week)
—Returns are easy—they provide bigger boxes and free pickups
—Their 30-day full-money back is a bit shorter than comparable companies (i.e.: SleepEZ has a 90-trial period)

Overall, I feel great about my decision—thanks for a great site/wonderful informative discussions… thoughtful recommendations. I will certainly recommend the site to friends and family.

In very good rest,

Hi sleep2016,

Thanks for taking the time to let us know what you ended up deciding and for sharing your comments and feedback … I appreciate it.

As you know you made a great quality/value choice … and congratulations on your new mattress :).

I’m looking forward to any additional updates you have the chance to share once you’ve had the chance to sleep on it for a little longer as well.

Phoenix

It’s been about 9 months since I purchased my original 7" Dunlop mattress.
After about a month or two, I added a medium 1" topper. That helped for a while, and about 2 months ago, I added a 2" soft topper. Now, the whole mattress feels quite wonderful—still quite firm (great as I am a stomach sleeper), but a bit softer so I do not wake up with sore shoulders.
All in all, I am very happy with all Dunlop layers. I look forward to sleep, and sleep well. The Dunlop latex seems to be great with on and off menopausal hot flashes.
Thanks MU for a great site.
