Queen split adjustable mattress and base

Does anyone have experience with the Queen split adjustable base and mattress? I’ve got to get an adjustable to help a Parkinson’s mobility partner get out of bed. He is very weak and needs the boost sitting up. We have a queen which is a good size for us. But the dimensions split look very narrow. A king is bigger than our room can comfortably contain. So…anyone…can you advise if the split queen feels as roomy as a regular queen?

Go with queen if you must….but with a queen split….you may end up with too much “foam edge border”. You wont get much of the real mattress.

If you can, go for a king or king split.

So the bottom line is that it’s very likely that the Queen split may feel, or be perceived as being narrower than the regular queen? I’m not understanding your description of the possible foam edge issue, but I’m guessing it means a possibility that the sleeper has two sides, very close to him of the easy compression that is the natural edge of foam. Meaning there is less stable mattress and more possibility of rolling off the edges?
I appreciate your input a great deal!

For example, with a split king….if you rip the mattress apart (innerspring)……there is about 2-3 inches of foam all around the perimeter of the mattress. You get less inner spring (wheat) and more foam junk(chaff). The foam makes a frame for the innersprings to be in. So….a split king will feel more stiff compared to regular king simply due to less length. Split king is narrower that nonsplit king. The effect would be even more pronounced in a queen split. I guess this doesnt apply to latex and memory foam mattresses because there is no foam border.

Ask saleperson about how much foam border there is. Ask if split queen firmer/stiffer than regular queen. Many dont even know. Lay down on split queen and regular queen to decide for yourself, Another option is to pick a mattress without a foam border or pick your mattress in a king split which will give a few extra inches of real mattress between foam border.

A split queen could be a bit narrower because if you divide a queen in half, (60 inches = 2 30-inch sections) it is narrower than even a twin bed which is usually around 37 inches wide. If you cannot fit a 76-inch wide king in the room, perhaps the narrower California King would work at 72 inches - but a California King is 84 inches long, so longer than a regular king.

I really appreciate the feedback.
