Im not sure where to post this, so ill start here. Im thinking about purchasing a new TULO mattress from mattressfirm, or direct from the website, but the ONE (or two) factors that im not sure about is A. The bottom support layer @ 5 inches of 1.8 LBS Density, and, maybe, B. The top memory foam layer 2 inches @ 3.25 lbs density. The biggest factor im not certain of is the support layer. I weigh about 205 LBS and am heaviest at my hips. Would the support layer be a problem for my weight? I dont want to sink in too far into the mattress, and from testing it I feel that im not, however, I dont want that to change within say 6 months to a year and then end up having to find a new mattress again.
Hi Mike77,
I was not familiar with Tulo Mattresses, so I looked at their website. I don’t see the actual foam specifications, so perhaps you received it from Mattress Firm or you called Tulo.
I see that the bottom layer is 4.5" of soft, medium or firm foam, depending on the model you pick.
If it is indeed 1.8 pound density, then that is a good quality foam.
I was looking at their return policy, and they say it is easy and free. However, someone posted this review:
Return is not free!
I carefully read the return policy before purchasing. It states free return. Not true. Just called today to return mattress and was informed there is a $79.00 fee to have the mattress picked up. Returning mattress because of poor sleep quality. I toss and turn. I’m restless while sleeping. I wake up sore, mostly in my shoulders and hip.
Mattress Firm was mentioned in the reviews as providing good Customer Service, so I might consider purchasing through them if they help with any questions or issues.
Because this mattress is an all foam product, it will not last as long as a mattress with a steel innerspring unit. A general rule of thumb for foam is 7 - 10 years based on 1.8 pound density or higher.
The mattress you receive will be firmer than the one you tried at Mattress Firm. Showroom models always soften up, so be prepared for that when you pick your comfort level.
