After a year of reading this forum to decide what to replace our 16-17 year old Beauti-rest with, I decided to order the Bamboo Bliss from Brooklyn Bedding, level #6. I had purchased an Ultimate Dreams Full mattress, level #8, for a guest room to try out a BB product; very impressed with the quality, but felt the #8 was too soft for our liking (just fine for guests). Going to the #6 with a little denser base foam is MUCH better. Have had it less than a week, but have been sleeping well. It actually feels similar to the old spring mattress that we liked very well. The latex has that “springy” feel that we like (so much more so than memory foam). There was no odor after a day.
Costs a bit more than the Amazon version, and not sure if the firmer base foam is worth the extra $$… but if you like puffy pillows and get them free, then directly from BB is worth the slightly extra cost. I doubt we’ll be swapping our top layer, so we could have saved $140 buying from Amazon. No clue if the “wool” cover makes a difference, but it is very nice, not hot, not cold. Plan on keeping it 10 years, so small price to pay for 3650 good night’s sleep.
Only thing we don’t like are the shredded pillows that came free (good thing!). They are way to full, and still have a very strong odor after a week. They’re OK for back sleeping, but I woke up with a sore neck for a couple nights, so I switched back to a “wilted” feather-like pillow, and am back to normal. I see them at Amazon for $40+, so I may sell them on Craigslist…
Brooklyn Bedding is a great supplier! Ordered on the 5th, confirmed on the 5th, tracking on the 7th, received on the 9th. They replied to any email within 4 hours. I never called them and the whole process was effortless… even the upboxing and inflating on the bed was a breeze. Really not much heavier than the mattress that was removed.
