Recommendations needed for a foundation for a 100% Natural Latex Mattress?

Hi Phoenix. You have a great website. Very helpful. Thank you for this.

I was referred to your website, to check out your post on the best foundations for latex mattresses: https://forum.mattressunderground.com/t/the-best-foundations-or-base-for-a-latex-or-all-foam-mattress

Do you have a website for foundation recommendations too? Or can you give me a few recommendations for strong and supportive basic foundations, for latex mattresses (specifically PlushBeds 100% Natural Latex Mattress? This is for a king sized mattress so I have been told that center support is needed in the foundation. I would really appreciate your advice.

Sincerely,

Mary Grainger

Hi MaryGrainger,

Welcome to the Mattress Forum!

The foundation thread is located here (you can just click on the link). The first post in that thread describes what to look for in foundations that are appropriate for heavy latex mattresses. The link you provided was actually the last page of the thread to which I linked above.

I’m not sure if you’re asking for something different, as you linked to the foundation thread, and then asked for more information about foundations. If you could clarify, I can be more certain in the advice I provide.

Hi MaryGrainger,

Not a recommendation per se, but in speaking with the manufacturer of my latex mattress they informed me it should be placed on wooden slats, preferably no more than 2" apart and typically made from fir.

I have yet to purchase my own frame/foundation/bed. I’d like something made by the Amish (good quality and good solid wood), but the outlets I have spoken with have never dealt with latex or foam mattresses.

Hi GrandMasterJ,

You make an excellent point of consulting with your mattress manufacturer to make sure that whatever you choose for a foundation meets with their guidelines. While most all-latex manufacturers are comfortable with 3" or less between slats, there are some who prefer a smaller gap, and now with some hybrid (pocketed coil and latex) mattresses, there are some manufacturers recommending 1.5" - 2" for maximum slat spacing.

Thanks for sharing.

Thank you @GrandMasterJ. That’s a great idea. I actually have Amish adirondack chairs on my front porch and they are great quality wooden chairs, very strong and supportive. A nice, good quality Amish foundation would be ideal, especially for heavier latex mattresses.

Thank you Phoenix. This link is very helpful. It is appreciated.

Hi MaryGrainger,

You’re welcome!
