Thanks for posting all the info on your site. It has answered many questions I always had about matresses. There is a lot of noise but few places to get knowledgeable answers.
I now see that there are way more options than I knew about. And that you have other suggestions besides OMI.
Many years ago we bought a OMI Terra mattress . It was on sale, but still not cheap, and the store no longer carries them. It’s been at least 10 years, if not more. We have been doing the periodic turning and flipping they suggest to make it last longer.
I called OMI and asked if the top 3" section had a lifespan. They said lifespan was about 5 to 10 years. I can get a replacement through them for about $1500.
Would you suggest going to another manufacturer, or just getting OMI’s replacement?
I see that there is one manufacturer on your list in the Los Angeles / Orange area where I am. I have not contacted them.

A little clarification needed: how has the top 3" comfort layer been identified as the problem? $1,500 isn’t a “cheap” price for a topper replacement either. The OMI Terra is a well-made, expensive mattress; however, if the problem you are experiencing lives in the core/ support base, it’s only a matter of time before it manifests itself again into the replacement topper area.

If you’re happy with the OMI Terra top 3" replacement option they are offering and a GOLS organic certification is important to you, dealing directly with OMI is likely your best option. However, if you’re open to other latex options, you will find high-quality Talalay and Dunlop topper choices featuring natural certifications here among our trusted member partners. When I wake up my shoulder is in pain from the pressure of the mattress.
I found the receipt for the mattress. We paid $2200 in 2010. We got it on sale. It lists for about 8K now.
Checking with OMI, it turns out their configuration of the Terra is Med (Med Firm Med) from top to bottom, all being Dunlop. The bottom section is three layers.
After going through this website I found two companies in my area. I’ve taked with Foam Sweet Foam and have a much better idea of what I will do. Replacing the topper looks like a bad idea. The price from OMI will be as much as a 4 layer mattress from good companies. Replacing the topper from those companies will be a third of a new 4 layer mattress. Might as well go with a new one.
Info on this site really helped in knowing what I was looking at and what to look for in a new mattress. And when talking with folks from the matress company.
