Rest Evercool ~ A Refreshing Start to Sleep

I recently had the chance to sleep with the Rest Evercool Pillow and King Sheet, and while I wouldn’t normally jump on the “cooling sleep products” train, I approached it with curiosity and a fair bit of skepticism. I’m notoriously picky about pillows, to the point that most just don’t work for me. I prefer something with real loft, firmness, and structure, which the Evercool pillow didn’t quite deliver for my personal needs. That said, I found an interesting way to make it work: I placed it on top of one of my firmer, high-loft pillows. With that combo and a room that I pre-chilled with my portable floor-standing air conditioner, the experience was unexpectedly impressive. It was like a cooling pillow topper for my pillow system.

What stood out immediately was how the pillow’s material seemed to act like a cold sponge. Soft, smooth, and silky, after running the AC for about an hour before bedtime, the pillow/cover had absorbed a surprising amount of that ambient chill and retained it. This is something I’ve rarely felt outside of actual phase-change materials or refrigerated items. While the cooling sensation naturally equalized with my body over time, the moment I shifted positions, that refreshing cold returned. It felt authentic and noticeably different from the typical “cooling” claims often made by mattress or pillow brands.

On the second and third nights, I left the air conditioner off to see how the pillow would perform in a more neutral room temperature. To my surprise, the pillow still felt cool to the touch. Even without the added chill from the AC, it retained a pleasant coolness that made lying down feel refreshing. That consistency made me appreciate the fabric even more, as it clearly didn’t rely solely on an overly cold environment to deliver its cooling effect.

My wife gave it a try over a few nights as well, and her experience was equally interesting. She’s a side sleeper who usually uses one solid Talalay and one Dunlop latex pillow for support. While the Evercool didn’t provide the loft and feel she likes for her head, she ended up loving it as a hugging body pillow. She noticed it stayed cool longer when used in that position and found it helpful for temperature regulation, something she occasionally struggles with at night.

The Evercool pillow seems best suited for sleepers who prefer a softer, squishier feel with a lower profile. It’s likely to appeal to lighter-weight individuals, back or stomach sleepers. While it’s available in different thicknesses (3", 4", and 5"), the softness of the material makes even the thicker options feel quite gentle. If you’re someone who sleeps hot or simply enjoys that cool-to-the-touch sensation, this could be a great fit, especially in a well-ventilated or lightly cooled room.

No, the pillow does not stay cool for long under the area you’re actively sleeping on, but the moment you shift or change positions, you’re instantly greeted with that cool touch again. In a world full of overhyped “cooling” claims, this one actually delivers a pleasant, refreshing, even if temporary, sensation right where you need it.

Although I did not have the opportunity to experience their comforter, it would be interesting to see how cool their comforter feels since it is exposed to the air all night long, and the fact that it rests against the upper part of the body to maintain a potentially cooler sleeping temperature for possibly longer sleep cycles.

Happy to answer any questions.

Update: I began to focus more on the Evercool King sheet I added to our bed. A bit of an unorthodox method, but I figured if it’s the real deal, it should feel cool no matter how it’s used.

Since I was already washing our sheets and pillowcases, I decided to put my DreamFit fitted sheet back on the mattress as usual. Then I took the Evercool King sheet and placed it over the fitted sheet, like a flat sheet, tucking it in as if it were replacing the fitted one. After that, I finished making the bed normally. But before adding the rest of the bedding, I just laid on the bed to see how the sheet felt. Honestly, it was kind of amazing how cold the sheet felt even without anything on top. This time no help from the portable air conditioner.

Later that day, when my wife and I climbed into bed, we both had the same reaction, it felt like jumping into a cold swimming pool. It was cold.

Did it stay cold? Long enough that we both wanted to keep the covers pulled up. Then, after about 15 to 20 minutes, the area directly under my body warmed up and equalized to my body temperature and the sheet. Strangely, though, from my hips down to my feet, the sheet still felt noticeably cooler, even with a cotton blanket, wool duvet, and cover on top. I think that’s because my legs and feet move around more than the rest of me.

It’s only been a few nights using the Evercool sheet like a pseudo fitted sheet, but next I’ll try using it as a regular top sheet to see how that changes the feel after a few nights in that setup.

I decided to order the Evercool Blanket, as I have become more curious about how cool this combination will get and the duration of how long it will remain. The northeast is getting cooler, so I am not certain, how this will all perform in the summer, but you know I will be waiting to experience these components in warmer weather.

So, hang in there.
