Has anyone received a new Reverie adjustable bed foundation with the ProGrip retaining system? I ordered a 5D and am hoping it will come with the new retaining system. Though I’m not sure how this will work with a 3 layer component type latex mattress or how well it works in general. I couldn’t find much information on it. Those corner brackets are not very attractive… The Reverie website list it for the 7S but not the 5D, so maybe they haven’t updated their web page for the 5D. Sorry if this has already been discussed, but I searched the forum and didn’t find any mention of it.
Here is the information I found:
Reverie is bringing a major innovation to the winter Las Vegas Market with the introduction of ProGrip, a retainer designed to hold mattresses in place without the bars that many consumers say remind them of hospital beds. The patent-pending ProGrip is designed to work with any adjustable-friendly mattress in the market and hold it into place during head or foot elevation.
Traditionally a retainer bar—or bracket—is bolted to the foot of an adjustable bed base to keep the mattress from sliding around when getting in and out of the bed. Reverie’s new ProGrip is made of a proprietary material that “grips” the mattress to keep everything securely in place while eliminating the industrial or hospital look often associated with adjustable bed bases. As with Revere’s corner retainer bars, ProGrip technology ensures lumbar support.
“From the showroom to the bedroom, traditional retainers tend to make even the most stylish adjustable foundation look a bit industrial. We challenged our R & D team to create a new accessory that eliminates this problem without sacrificing functionality,” said Reverie President and CEO Martin Rawls-Meehan. “We’re proud to be the first to offer a highend retainer that allows consumers to seamlessly integrate their adjustable bed base into their bedroom furniture and actually enhance their décor.”
Moving forward, ProGrip will be a standard feature in Reverie adjustable bed foundations starting with the Reverie 5D and up. Retainer bars will still be included in every package for customers that want to use them. Reverie will send retailers an easy-to-use kit to make their current floor models bar-free and ready for display.
You are the first one on the forum that has mentioned it but I haven’t personally seen it or talked with any retailers or manufacturers I know that have so I can’t really make any meaningful comments about how well it works.
I have seen it described here (you can do a browser page search for ProGrip to find it) as a proprietary material that is “similar to a yoga mat” so it would have some “sticky” properties and in their owners manual Reverie suggests that customers try it first to see how well it works for them (it may vary depending on the mattress) but if it doesn’t hold the mattress in place then they still include retainer bars with their adjustable beds that have the ProGrip surface.
Jeff from Mattress To Go posts here frequently and I know he was at the recent Las Vegas show and was looking at the adjustable bed options there so hopefully he will see your post and if he had the chance to look at the Reverie ProGrip adjustables he will be able to share some comments about them as well.
I didn’t stop by Reverie at market, I’m guessing it might work similarly to the micro-hooks offered by Leggett and Platt, but I’m not really sure of its actual structure. It’s certainly not something I personally would want to order sight-unseen, as I’d actually like to try it out in person and see how it reacts with my preferred mattress. I’m sure it can behave differently based upon the different non-skid materials used by particular brands. I’d also be interested to see long-term if the product reduces its coefficient of friction, or if it prematurely wears the non-skid. It’s good that they are including the corner brackets just in case for their customers.
I just received a 5D and it did not include the ProGrip system… I did contact Reverie before purchasing the foundation and they said it would include the ProGrip, but they were wrong. I’m not very impressed with Reverie, their customer support or their crappy white glove service.
I’m sorry to hear that your adjustable bed didn’t include the ProGrip system. Was it shipped to you from the factory? Did you call and ask them about it after the delivery?
I’d also be interested in why you weren’t happy with the white glove service.
Did you order your product directly from Reverie, or from another vendor? It is possible that adding the ProGrip was a running change to the 5D line. I’m not sure about that, but it’s possible. You could have been shipped a previous generation 5D from another vendor who had “old” stock, while the people at Reverie were quoting you “new” specs - this often happens in the industry. Often, when something is introduced at market it is a few months away from being rolled out. Just a thought that might explain your situation. I’m not a Reverie dealer, so I don’t have access to that information.
Who performed your White Glove service - do you have the name of the company?
I ordered the foundation from one of the preferred bedding sellers listed on the site. It was shipped directly from Reverie to the white glove service.
The white glove service took 5 weeks to deliver the foundation. They never installed one before, which is fine, but they just stared at the instructions scratching their heads, so I assembled it, which is not difficult. They pretty much carried it in and flipped it over, then left. The white glove service really just a trucking delivery service.
I have been meaning to call and ask about the ProGrip system and tell them that mine did not include it, I report back with their response, but I’ thinking they’ll say they are still have old stock pre-progrip they are shipping.

The foundation was shipped directly from Reverie to the white glove service.
The white glove service was just a local trucking delivery service, I’d rather not call them out on this forum since it may have just been a one-off delivery issue with them.
Thanks for the update and I’ll be interested in hearing what they have to say and whether they have been shipping the ProGrip system (or when they plan to start if they aren’t).
If the seller was listing the item on their site as having the ProGrip and you were shipped an item without it, then I’d contact that company and see if there was anything that they could do for you. As you spoke with Reverie and they talked about the item having the ProGrip, they may have been overstepping their advice a bit by not knowing what their retailers had/have in stock. In the end, it comes down to what the actual seller was advertising. Unfortunately things like this can happen when companies are going through lineup changes.
Five weeks is a bit longer than I would expect for a White Glove delivery of an adjustable bed. If you are in a remote area (as defined by the shipping companies), this certainly can take longer. Additionally, if Reverie isn’t using a dedicated 3PL company for delivery, this can take some extra time as well. It is common for a local delivery company to be contracted to perform the final stage of the delivery. And while they may be familiar with setting up adjustable beds, they obviously weren’t familiar with yours. This happens sometimes, even with my shipping company (which I why I provide manuals and videos beforehand for them to peruse). Even with all of that, you may get a team that’s unfamiliar with your product. I would contact Reverie to let them know about this, as I’m sure they’d want to make sure that their clients are taken care of properly, and they may want to provide some extra training for that particular delivery company, or not use them in the future. Plus, if you paid for White Glove and didn’t receive it, you might want to ask if there was anything Reverie could do for you (maybe a partial refund on the total delivery cost).
Hopefully everything is working well for you, even with the bumps in the road.
