I was not gifted or funded in any way for this review. This review is basically more directed towards high quality latex hybrids as a whole. Which there are quite a few great options on mattress underground. I picked ES mostly because I was more familiar with the feel I would get due to visiting them months ago. Their customer service is also great. Though like I said there are such awesome companies and options here. I would recommend, probably just about all of them to anyone.
I had visited their showroom and laid on all their mattresses months ago, and by the time of actually ordering the other day, I had forgotten how exactly the duo latex felt, only really having a general idea.
My expectation was possibly for it to be quite firm, almost too firm, and that the latex could be overly responsive which I have experienced in the past with my DIY build. Despite my slight fear that the bed might be too firm I ordered one. Because I drive a semi and have to sit on the edge of the bed a lot while resting, and I’ve realized over time I started to prefer a mattress to be firmer and faster responding.
The reason for this is, as I’m sure others have experienced, some beds can be too soft or slow responding to where they can make you feel sluggish or stagnant.
My hypothesis was that if I find a bed that has both faster response and firmer support, id sleep very comfortably yet still feel activated enough to get up out of bed.
That is exactly what the duo latex accomplished for me. The mattress is a little more giving than I was expecting because of the avena foam on top of the springs, and the lower coil count compared to the DIY 14.75g spring offered on pocketspringstore.com so it ended up being perfect.
What I am basically saying in this post is that latex really is an amazing material and it is worth working with to get it right.
If you have tried latex before and had it not work for you, or are hesitant, just know this is a game of physics. Material responses can be managed through various means, and so can the gradient of softness and firmness.
