Hello, What follows is my experience and review of the Regalis HD 12 Inch Memory Foam Mattress.
My wife and I began our search for a new bed by laying on several Tempur Pedic mattresses to get an idea for the firmness we were looking for. On June 9th I placed my order with Peter (Pedro) Guerrero at Select Foam via phone. He helped us through the order process, and was very polite. He also honored the 5% discount for mattressunderground.com members. We ordered the Regalis HD 12 Inch Memory Foam mattress, a foundation (free with promotion), and two Comfort Queen Pillows (memory foam pillows). We received email confirmation of this transaction shortly after speaking to Peter.
On June 10th, our foundation shipped, and we received it in a few days time.
On June 13th, we received only one memory foam pillow, three days later, the second pillow had not arrived, and I emailed Dwight Miller, the Customer Service Manager at Select Foam. He never responded to my emails.
On June 19th, I received an email informing me that my order was complete, yet I still had not received my full order, nor had I received any communication regarding the missing pillow. This email contained the tracking number for the mattress that was ordered. It arrived 5 days later via Fedex Ground.
On June 26th, my wife spoke to Peter regarding the missing pillow, and I received an email from Peter detailing this, along with an apology for failing to ship the pillow. At any rate, we weren’t happy with the pillow that we received, and Peter said he would send a new one.
On July 8th, after not receiving any information regarding the shipment of a new pillow, I emailed Peter. He responded that same day saying that he had requested the information regarding our pillow shipment, and that he would send it to us as soon as he heard anything.
On July 16th, I emailed Peter, telling him that if we did not have a tracking number by Friday, July 18th, we would like a refund to be issued for our pillows. He responded on the same day, telling me that while there wasn’t any way to return the pillow, we could certainly keep the new one free-of-charge if it shipped, and that he would email accounting to get further details on this order.
On July 17th, I received an email from Chris Nelson, informing me that I would be refunded $57 for the pillow that never shipped (we worked out a two-for-one deal), without an apology or any information as to why we were never shipped a second pillow. This was 1 month and 8 days after our initial order.
Now, on to our evaluation of the bed.
The bed is nice. It is exactly as advertised, and is quite comfortable. In comparison to the Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Contour Rhapsody Breeze, I would say that it is more firm. There was no detectable off-gassing, and we began using the bed immediately. We bought our bedding from Costco, and purchased the Kirkland Signature 540 thread count cotton-sateen weave sheets. We love them, and there’s nothing more to it than that. They cost $79.00, which was an outstanding value.
In summary, we really enjoy this bed; the bed is very comfortable, and we sleep great on it. We bought it to replace our Sleep Number bed, which we were very unhappy with. In fact, upon taking our Sleep Number bed apart, the “memory foam” layer on top was ripped down the middle, which helped explain why my wife and I were constantly falling into the middle of the bed.
Regarding Select Foam, I think they make a nice product. With that said, they leave a lot to be desired in regard to communication and customer service. It was a pleasure working with Peter, but I still am unsure why there was such an issue sending pillows to us. If I were to buy another bed like this, I would likely give another company my business, as nobody should have to go through that much hassle to either get money back or get the product that they ordered. Out of fairness, Peter from Select Foam has been emailed the link to this post. If required, I would be more than happy to forward my email conversations with Select Foam to the mods.
I would be very interested to hear if anyone else has had similar experiences with Select Foam.
