Sherwood Lumina Innerspring Mattresses

Hello, Phoenix-
I am a stomach-sleeper, 5’7" , 200lbs and will be the only user of the bed. Today, I tested many mattresses at a local independently owned mattress store and like the Lumina “Pegasus” mattress the best.

What are your thoughts on its quality and construction? Thank you!

Hi dccurly,

Outside of testing a mattress for PPP … one of the most important parts of a mattress purchase is knowing the specifics of all the materials and components inside it and this is the only way to assess the quality and durability of a mattress or make meaningful comparisons with other mattresses.

Your retailer should be able to provide you with the specifics of each layer in the Pegasus (from top to bottom including the thickness of each layer and the density of any memory foam or polyfoam and the type and blend of any latex in the mattress) and if you post the information on the forum I’d be happy to make some comments about it and help you identify any potential weak links in the mattress. Without this information there is no way to make any meaningful comments about any mattress.

Phoenix

Hi, Phoenix-
Sorry, I thought I had included the link to the specs on this mattress. Here it is:

Hi dccurly…

The questions that Phoenix asked are not really answered by that link. It shows pretty pictures that describe all the layers but there no discussion about things like wire gauge on the coils, the exact thickness of each foam layer, the type of foam in each layer including density, etc. That being said, I did find an older forum post that discussed a different model in the Lumina line (Spirit Plush) model:

If you look at the PDF on the Sherwood site, the Spirit looks like the next model up in the line from the Pegasus. I think that thread is definitely worth a read.
