I am shopping for a new mattress set. My old queen size mattress and foundation
are over 15 years old and sagging and causing back pain.

I read Consumer Reports recent mattress review and was leaning towards the Serta perfect day
i series Applause set which I can buy for $895. for both pcs. and get free delivery.

Wondering what may be a better choice for quality, longevity, and overall support and
comfort?

Wondering if I should purchase an excellent quality mattress and box spring (no pillow top or foam top sewn in)
and add a high quality foam, gel, or latex top onto it? Is this a better option? If so, what is a good choice for both?
