Silica Fire Sock

Does anyone know if using silica in the fire sock is safe? I’m looking at Nest Bedding and they look pretty good with no fiberglass but they do use hydronated silica. If this were to get out of the mattress does it cause the same problems as fiberglass?

Hydrated silica does not have any of the properties causing concerns with fiberglass, and even has a long history of safe use as an ingredient in food products. It is listed by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) to be Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS). It is safe to be used in the fire sock of mattresses.

Thank you, Bill. So if for some reason the silica escaped the mattress there wouldn’t be any issues like with fiberglass?

To my understanding that is correct.
