Hello all,
The site updates are complete with a new template and “look” and now over the course of the next few months some of the additional features that I’ve been working on will be supported and can be added.
Hopefully there are no bugs but if you happen to notice any it would be great if you could post them here.
I noticed that some of the avatar images didn’t get transferred so if you are one of these and your avatar hasn’t been restored by late tonight (March 19th) you may need to upload it again (NOW DONE).
EDIT ADDED: as many of you are aware the site is running quite slowly (especially if you are logged in) but my website developer is working on this and hopefully it will be fixed soon Thanks for your patience in the meantime.

I just tested the profile tab in Google Chrome, Firefox, and Explorer and it seems that I have the same issue when I use Chrome. For now you can use another browser to upload an Avatar and I’ll report the bug to the developer so they can fix it.

There are still some issues with some php and apache errors that are causing some strange behavior and error messages and some long loading times that are still being worked on and hopefully these will be fixed soon.

It turns out that the “Chrome bug” is actually user specific and depends on the settings in your Chrome browser. The “fix” is to restore your Chrome settings to their default and you will be able to edit your profile in Chrome.
To do this you can click the menu icon in the top right of Chrome, click settings, click “show advanced settings” on the bottom, and then click “reset settings” at the very bottom.
Oddly enough I didn’t see any specific settings it changed in my Chrome browser but it fixed the issue.

Hello all,
For those of you that are noticing some significant slowness on the site or that are seeing errors when a page loads (or tries to load), this is just to let you know that you aren’t alone.
Both my website developer and my hosting company are trying to track down the reasons but have been unsuccessful so far.
I may have to revert back to the old design if this continues for much longer until the reason for the issues can be discovered and “fixed” (and tested) and the new site can be “relaunched”
I would also MAKE SURE that you highlight and copy the contents of any post before you click submit just in case an error happens right when you are posting something that has taken you some time to compose so that you don’t end up losing it.
In the meantime … thank you for your patience.

Hello all,
Just to provide a further update on the slowness of the new site … it looks like the current VPS server doesn’t have the capacity to provide reasonable loading times for the new site in spite of some significant tweaking so I will be moving to a new server and a new hosting company tomorrow (I haven’t been particularly happy with Host Gator anyway) so the slowness issue should be resolved in a few more days.

Just as a further update … the site will be transferred to a new host with a faster server tonight and should propagate over the course of the night so the slow loading times should be resolved by tomorrow (fingers crossed :))
