The wife and I got our first nights sleep last night on our new Sleep EZ 10000 series mattress. I wanted to give our initial review of the bed, and I hope to update this thread over the next few weeks as we get fully adjusted to it. We got a king size mattress, but most of the info should apply across the board.
Setup/Installation - It took us about 45 minutes to set up the bed. Each layer comes in it’s own box. We had the bed split to suit our needs. The layer is identified with a sticker so that you know exactly what it is…FIRM, MEDIUM, SOFT, etc. It’s also important to note that each layer/block of latex is not a perfect cut. This is not a problem in anyway shape form or fashion. It just means that each edge may not be perfectly square. When you line up the layers and zip the cover up everything will be just fine. I definitely suggest 2 people to put it together. It’s definitely something a husband/wife team can do with ease. There is a little odor/off gassing to deal with, but it’s not bad at all. We let the mattress lay out in the dark for about an hour before we closed up the cover. Shawn @ sleepez said it may take a couple of weeks for the odor to go away completely. Again, it should not be a major issue, just the nature of latex.
Layers - We are both back sleepers and occasionally end up on our sides. I got (from bottom to top) Firm/Med/Med, and my wife got Firm/Med/Soft. Within about 15 minutes of laying down I could tell that I was getting great support for my back (especially lower) and we both woke up this morning minus the typical aches and soreness.
General comfort - I’m a very hot sleeper by nature. In my opinion this mattress slept as hot as our traditional mattress did. I’ve personally never found a bed that slept as cool as wanted it to, but this is as good as any I’ve been on. A tell-tell sign of a bad nights sleep is cover twisted and/or on the floor at our house. There was very little movement on either of our parts and the covers were in tact for what it’s worth!
Pillows - You get two free shredded latex pillows. Personally I needed a new pillow desperately, and it’s not perfect but it is MUCH better than what I’ve been sleeping on for the past year or so. It is good enough that I don’t need to go on a frantic search for one this weekend. My wife didn’t care it too much because it was too thick for her liking. She may remove some of the latex and try again since the feel of it was nice to her, but it just propped her head up too much…
Customer service - I did call to make sure that our assembly process was correct and Shawn politely and quickly answered my questions and concerns. During the shipping time - Jeremy was constantly providing updated information as soon as it was available. A+ for being available and super friendly!
I’m no expert, but I know when I’ve got a good nights rest…and when I feel better. So day 1 gets 2 thumbs up! If anyone has any questions, I will certainly try…and if nothing else share my experience.
