SleepOnLatex Talalay Pillows

I was curious if anyone here has tried the Talalay latex pillows from SleepOnLatex, and if so - have they held up well over time? Pillows are a tricky thing for me, as I am a side sleeper and need a pillow that is more on the firm or extra firm side. Compounding issues is the fact that I also sleep with my arm extended under the pillow - so most firm pillows end up with too much loft for my neck to be aligned properly. I was pleased to see that they offer a “Low Loft” version of their pillow with a resting height of 5.5" compared to 6.5" for the standard version. I ordered one of the low loft versions and expect it to arrive today, and was wondering if anyone had any feedback on them – especially from side sleepers that share the same issue.

Thanks,
Rick

Hi RickNY,

I don’t have any personal experience with them but hopefully any of the forum members that have purchased them will see your post and share their comments and feedback about them. As you probably know latex is a very resilient (springy) material.

Talalay latex (and latex in general) is a very durable material so they will hold up well over time.

I’m looking forward to your comments once you’ve had the chance to try it out since other people’s experience and preferences may be very different from yours and the only experience that really matters is your own

I ended up sending back the low-loft version of the pillow and instead ordered the high-loft version. The low-loft version is described as being “soft latex foam”, while the high-loft version is “soft-medium”. I missed this when I ordered them, and the pillow was really both too soft as well as too low. I would say that the low loft version would be really great for a stomach sleeper, as described on their site.

The high loft version is coming today, so I’ll see how that is… I also upgraded the cover to the organic cotton instead of the cotton tricot, as the latter was rather thin - similar to a stocking.

Sleep On Latex has been an excellent company to deal with… I purchased a couple of toppers from them as well, and they have been extremely accommodating.

Just wanted to follow-up after I’ve had a few weeks with the “high loft” version of this pillow… Probably worth noting that the description of being “high loft” should only be used in comparison to their “low loft” version. The “high loft” is probably what I would consider to be standard loft as compared to many other pillows… Just didn’t want anyone to think that the loft is higher than average.

After a few weeks, I’m very satisfied with this pillow… It holds its shape, compresses to just the right amount to keep my neck aligned properly, does not sleep hot, and is much more breathable than say a memory foam pillow (something I can’t use because I end up having ear problems). It has a good weight to it, if you are the type that sleeps with your arm under the pillow – it has more weight to it than most feather/down and fiber-fill pillow – but is not as heavy as a dense memory foam pillow. It works out well for me.

There was some very slight initial latex odor that was present when putting my head down on the pillow initially, but the tencel pillow protector I use covered that the first couple of days I had it.

And once again, Sleep On Latex was excellent to deal with, and gave me absolutely no problems with exchanging the low loft (and even gave me a $10 credit towards the high loft, which I used to upgrade to the organic cotton cover.

Hi RickNY,

Thanks for the feedback … and it’s great to hear that you found a pillow that works well for you :).
