Is it possible for the average Joe to purchase a SomniGel and FloFom Toppers? Seems that it’s a Wholesaler’s commodity.
Hey Spoonman01,
Thanks for your question .
SomniGel™ is a hollow column gel, also known as a type of buckling column gel component used in a mattress’s comfort layers. Buckling column gel is made of either hexagonal or square “columns” which will support a certain amount of weight and when they reach their threshold they then “collapse” under pressure. Because of this ability to be both firm in certain areas (to the degree of their threshold) and soft in certain areas (when they buckle), they have a good ability to form a cradle and offer a very good combination of pressure relief and lumbar support. For more of Phoenix’s thoughts on its unique properties and construction, article “Martress Comfort Layers: Buckling Column Gel” is a good resource. As far as a SomniGel topper purchase goes, if available that would indeed be a purchase from a manufacturer/ retailer. You may consider contacting trusted member The Beloit Mattress Company as they carry mattresses featuring SomniGel and may can better answer your question.
Regarding the second topper in your question: is “FloFom” or “3D Flo foam”? If you are referring to the later, this is part of a pillow/ mattress/ mattress topper program offered by California-based Danican to mattress manufacturers/ retailers for consumer purchase. They do not offer direct-to-consumer purchase options, so a quick google search based on your location would suggest where in your area you might find one of these toppers. Hope this helps with your research and good luck with your DIY project, Spoonman01 .
Thanks,
Sensei
