Speeding up Tempur Pedic Adjustment period

We just got a new mattress (TempurPedic Breeze Medium Hybrid) and for the first time in my life I cannot sleep without pain. My husband on the other hand immediately saw his pain go away (the reason we replaced our mattress). While I understand there is an adjustment period, I’m not sure I can make it through a month like this. Are there things I can do to speed up break-in/adjustment to the new mattress, or should we immediately look at returning it? If we return it… any suggestions on what to look at as a replacement?

Me: 180lb 5’5" stomach sleeper. No history of pain from mattresses, though too soft and I feel suffocated, too hard and my arms fall asleep and wake me up in the middle of the night. First week on our new mattress I was waking up at 3am with intense lower back pain. This has now transitioned to waking up several times in the night to shift positions and in the morning I’m stiff and achy. I was away for a few days after we got our new mattress and the pain went away, but came back my first night at home.

Husband: 280lb, 6’2". Back and Side sleeper. Has historically had to replace mattresses on the earlier end of their typical lifespan due to back, hip, or shoulder pain. First night on new mattress woke up without pain (as has been true every night since). Prefers soft mattresses.

Many people will walk on their Tempurpedic to soften it up.
