Spindle Mattress Co - Abscond review

I wanted to thank the community and Phoenix for the wealth of information and guidance for my recent “value-based” mattress purchase.

Similar to many folks that wander to this website, I initially looked at local big-box stores for my purchase. I found very few mattresses in my price range (800-1000 for a queen) and began to search online for a better value. To my surprise, this forum had information overload and seemed to have “too many” mattresses in my price range. I eventually narrowed my purchase down to Dreamfoam’s ultimate dream (500), eurotop (800), BB cotton camilla (760), or to the all-latex Spindle Mattress Abscond (760).

On paper, Spindle almost seemed to good to be true — 9 inches of latex vs. 3 inches + polyfoam, 365 days comfort adjustment (albeit $150 extra if needed), and a zipper cotton cover with thinner woven topper polyfoam (0.75 inches vs. 1.5 inches and ?less likely to have body indentations). I was a bit hesitant from the lack of online reviews, but Phoenix’s endorsement of Neal and the company certainly helped. I eventually placed an order and spoke with Neal directly to confirm I made the correct firmness choice (“medium” → firm-firm-medium layers).

The mattress was very easy to assemble and lacked any discernable odors. It was extremely comfortable/supportive on its first night and my initial impressions of Spindle are outstanding. If the mattress holds up as promised (~10 years) — I think it will represent a great value.

I hope other folks have similar experiences with Spindle and I plan to update the community on our spindle mattress in the coming months. Thanks again for the info!

Hi newslang,

Thanks for sharing your experiences with Spindle and Neal and it certainly seems to me that you made a great choice among the “wealth” of great options you had available.

Most important … congratulations on your new mattress

I’m looking forward to any more feedback you have the chance to share with the forum over time.
