Finding our 14.75 gauge quad coil +3" medium quad coil too soft, and the last of motion isolation is killin me. Considering split cal king for motion isolation, also to ensure my husband can get better support if needed, as he sinks way too far into the quad coils on his side and it’s messing with his alignment. It looks like my main options are engineered sleep, or sleepez.
Engineered sleep duo latex appears very similar to what we have, which my main issue is I think it rounds my shoulder a bit when on my back because I’m lanky with broadish shoulders, so the middle of my back sinks in more. But maybe the 2" latex there would be okay? @EngineeredSleep
Or I can do the ES classic hybrid and opt for the firmer side, and if it’s too hard for me, add a topper on my side.
For SleepEZ, I think the organic latex in 9" or 10". @Sleep_EZ
Wondering if anyone has thoughts on what would be best for motion isolation? I realized that I lose so much sleep being woken up when my husband rolls over or tosses and turns, especially if its in the 4-6am range. Not overheating is also a concern. Wondering if latex next to latex would isolate better, or if the coils on the sides of the ES options might rub against each other or something too.
The engineered sleep duo base is firm. I mean, solid firm. 8.5 out of 10. Extremely supportive, so it won’t be cradling around your body like your current spring is. Their options for toppers are the following:
lift (6")
latex (2")
latex plus (4")
memory foam (2")
memory plus (2" of memory+ 2" latex)
essential (1" soft polyfoam + 1" memory)
My favorite is the lift, followed by latex plus. Lift is both supportive and conforming. It has 2" of wool on top, 3" quadmini spring which feels as supportive as medium latex except it’s more motion isolating since the springs are only connected by fabric, and it doesn’t try to bounce you like latex does. You feel the way it all conforms around your body, and at the same time you can feel the support and firmness of the base mattress underneath.
Latex has 2" of soft latex, and the latex plus has 4" of the same soft latex.
The standard latex is just 2", so it feels kind of soft on top, and you dont sink in much before you reach the firm base. You will feel that soft latex, but mainly it’ll be pretty firm as a whole with barely any sinkage.
Latex plus adds another 2" of that same latex. So it’s 4" plush - firm base
The reason i like the latex plus over standard latex is because of the magical thing that happens with latex when you go soft, or super soft. It starts conforming around you and being comforting, but it wont push you around like medium latex. Therefore you get pressure relief but because theres a firm hard base underneath, your body doesn’t fall out of alignment.
About the motion transfer…i havent been able to test the beds long enough to be able to tell. My girlfriend and i made an hour visit to the showroom. All i can say is i have the quadmini spring, like whats in the lift topper, with the exact same base spring they use in their bases, and the motion transfer of my bed seems to be very reasonable.
