I know that pocket coils are meant to be motion isolating, but would it make a big (or noticeable) difference if I bought two Twin XL pocket coils (say the 6 inch Bolsa) instead of one king-sized pocket coil? The coils are connected vertically right (at least the ones from L&P), so am I just being paranoid? My wife is an EXTREMELY light sleeper, and lots of stuff wakes her up. Debating whether it’s worth investing, or whether it is a bad idea / mess up the mattress (like having edge coils end up being in the center of the mattress, but then again we’re planning on a Plank-level firmness to our mattress anyways).

Because coils are the furthest layer away from the body, they tend to do well with motion isolation as it is. However, yes, having two separate coil systems would also help to reduce motion transfer, as would having split comfort layers (as opposed to a large king sized slab of foam).
I don’t think it would mess up the feel much, unless you sleep smack in the middle where the edge support would be. Could be a little more firm than you’d like!
