This is my first post to this forum I have been researching latex mattresses for a couple of months now. And reading some of what
other people have experienced. What a great place to go for information about mattresses. Where I live in N.H. there is one place
that manufacturers there own latex mattresses. My wife and I looked there. We also traveled to Maine to look at some just to get
a feel for latex vs. innerspring vs. memory foam. Anyway here is a question has anyone found a problem with the split down the
middle of a queen size split latex mattress. Like if you have a stack say three layers can you feel the gap? is it softer there? do the
pieces shift around? When you move to the middle does it feel like your falling into a valley?
Hi Goat,
Post #2 here should be helpful
With a suitable quilted cover (or with a solid layer of latex or other material above the split layers in the case of an unquilted stretch cover) you will feel the transition from one firmness level to the other (which is the reason for the split layering) but not the “split” itself.
Latex layers are quite heavy and “sticky” and don’t tend to shift on top of each other inside a suitable tight fitting mattress cover but if for some reason this were to happen (for example if you were moving the mattress and turned it on its side) it’s also easy to unzip the cover and move them (with a “waving” motion) back into place

I have a split queen, SleepEZ 10000, 3 layers of latex. I’ve had it since last July, and don’t feel the gap at all.
Thank you Phoenix for the information. I am a little less nervous about my upcoming purchase. My wife and I ordered a platform bed from bed works of Maine we are waiting for delivery. We just have to choose a mattress we have it down to a couple. Whew so many choices. And a tip of the hat to eek Sleep EZ is in our top two. I can’t say enough about how helpful this forum is when you start looking for a mattress I stumbled upon it quite by accident. Thanks again for your help.
Hi Goat,
I’m glad the forum could help and I’m looking forward to finding out what you end up choosing
