Where in the world can I get a split queen mattress (along with split queen adjustable bases). I know each half will be short (60"/2) but the size of the size of the studio i’m in the extra 16" I get vs a king matters a lot. It has to be split queen adjustable because I sleep elevated and my girlfriend does not when she comes over.
It’s crazy that common stores such as Raymour & Flanigan sell split queen adjustable bases but not split queen adjustable mattress. What’s the point of having a split queen adjustable base if your going to put a full queen mattress over it? Who’s going to sleep with a tilted mattress?
While an “odd size”, split queen mattresses are still commonly made, but almost always will be a special order. You’ll usually have your best luck with smaller, more knowledgeable retailers who tend to deal more closely with local licensees, or by dealing with manufacturers who sell directly to the public online. Many large retailers choose not to offer split queen mattresses, even if the brands they represent make them, as they don’t necessarily want to stock a low-volume SKU nor do they wish to deal as much with special size orders. Component latex and memory foam systems, like the ones commonly offered by the site members listed here, are easily manufactured as split queens, and that’s usually the type of product where you’ll have your best luck.
As I think you’re already aware, most power foundations are offered in a split queen configuration by the major manufacturers such as Leggett & Platt, Ergomotion, Reverie, and Rize, although sometimes you’ll not find them made at the “end of the price range spectrum” (at the low and high-end).
Split queens certainly are available, but to save time, and I guess I’m stating the obvious here, I would phone prior to any visits to local stores and ask about their availability of split queen mattresses, and if they are only available from certain brands or specific models within each brand.
Unfortunately, it would be impossible for me to maintain a listing of every brand and the particular models that they might make in a split queen, and then which retailer might choose to offer that option (it would be an impossible task for anyone to maintain such a list). All I can tell you is that split queens are still produced in both mattresses and power foundations, and I’m sorry you were having a hard time finding them at the store you visited.
