Based on reading other posts on the forum, I think I’ve decided to go with the mattresses.net wood foundation. for the Ultimate Dreams Supreme Gel Memory Foam Matress-King size.
Here is the situation for me… I like a tall bed. Right now mine is about 31", and I would prefer the height to be at that level, or higher. I have 4" wood bed risers which are included within this 31" height.
If I purchase the foundation noted above, I estimate that my total height will be at least a few inches shorter than the 31" I am currently at right now. So, my curiosity has gotten the best of me. Can I stack the mattresses.net wood foundation on top of my existing split king innerspring mattress foundation (which I do not think is suitable for the foam mattress itself thus why I am looking for a new one), which would both sit on top of my standard metal bed frame? If this is possible then I would not use the bed risers because that would make it just a bit too high.
I have no experience with putting one foundation on top of another and my concern would be that it wouldn’t be very stable or would be prone to shifting or noise with movement. I would probably want to make sure that you secured one foundation very securely to the other somehow so that they were very secure and there was no risk of shifting.
I think I would probably be tempted to use bed risers under your steel bedframe or taller legs and risers directly under the foundation along the lines of some of the options mentioned in post #8 here or post #8 here and use a combination that gives you the height you prefer.
Thank you! This is EXACTLY what I needed! For some reason, I couldn’t find these things myself. I think I was searching the wrong term, and I actually didn’t think ones that replace the existing casters existed! I think I’ll get these risers, and maybe use my existing 4" wood bed risers, too.
We will have to modify the wood bed risers to accommodate the 3.5" bed riser width since they are currently only large enough for a 3".
Wish us luck! I will post once everything is in place, because if anyone else is looking for height like I am, this may be a good package for them to look into!
If my addition adds up right your frame will be 10" and your foundation is 8" and then your mattress is 12" and your wooden risers are an additional 4" which should add up to 34" which is certainly one tall sleeping surface !
I hope you have the chance to share some pictures and I’m looking forward to your feedback when everything arrives and is put together.
