Talalay Topper Paralysis by Analysis

I hope everyone is well and safe.

I’ve entered the Paralysis by Analysis zone.

I have a 1 year old all Talalay Latex mattress; the configuration is 6" medium core & 3" medium comfort layer.

Having slept on it for a year, I really like the mattress but I’m finding that a little more softness would be welcome. I was mainly a back sleeper but not I’m finding I’m on my side a little; 90% back; 10% side. By way of measurements, I’m 5’8" and range from 190 to 195lbs.

When I was mattress shopping 18 months ago, it was clear I didn’t like the 3" Soft Talalay on top of L&P Combi Elite or Talalay core; I could feel my lower back straining as the showrooms.

From what I’ve gathered, a 2" topper is probably the best option?

Here is where the paralysis is coming from.

I’ve got mixed suggestions from trusted members on going with soft vs medium and comparing ILD’s between the companies can be a bit difficult.

Also, how does the feel of the latex topper, soft or medium, relate to the ILD’s since it’s encased in a topper cover and not “in” the mattress cover?

It’s really important that I don’t lose the lower back support.

Thanks in advance.
