Tempurpedic cloud supreme breeze

Originally had a tempura deluxe from at least 20 years ago. Was convinced to buy a Rhapsody Luxe which was just too firm for my shoulders. Switched to a Cloud Supreme Breeze (last 2 1/2 weeks have been hell) and now out of switching options. Can this mattress be unzipped and switch the layers around? I’m sorry to sound stupid but short of taking a $3500.00 hit I don’t know what to do. I need a mattress that is right between the two I have tried. All and any help appreciated.

Hi Wlee,

Welcome to the Mattress Forum!

I’m sorry your current Tempurpedic mattress isn’t working out well for you. :frowning:

Unfortunately, the cover on the Breeze line from Tempurpedic is not meant to be removed (it is not washable) and the layers on the inside are not configurable.

Wlee - Sorry to hear about your situation, mattress shopping can unfortunately be a very frustrating and expensive experience. Everyone’s needs and preferences are different so nobody can accurately predict which specific mattress will work well for you. While some have luck adding a latex topper to a mattress which is too firm to soften the surface adding comfort and reducing pressure point pain, it’s much more difficult to make a mattress which is too soft for you firmer. If the underlying support isn’t there adding a topper doesn’t usually help. I know you stated that you’re out of switching options, but sometimes you can negotiate these restrictions with the seller. You may be able to arrange one more final exchange possibly for an additional fee even though it may not be their standard policy. Ask to speak to a manager about your situation to see if they can accommodate you, the worst case is they’ll just say no. Good luck in your quest!

Hi Wlee,

I was thinking about your situation last night and there were two ideas that I though you may wish to consider.

The first is that to achieve a slightly firmer surface comfort but to still keep a “memory foam” feel, you could consider a slow recovery latex topper. This will have some of the viscous nature of memory foam, but at a higher ILD than the upper layer of memory foam on your current mattress.

The other option would be to add a “normal” latex topper, probably in the mid-20s for the ILD, as this would be a higher ILD than your current top memory foam layer, and would have a bit of a “dominant” layering effect, but you would have a bit more of a “buoyant” feel in this scenario.

Just a few thoughts for you.
