This is an extremely helpful website. I used the manufacturer search for the Minneapolis area and contacted chuck from Rest Assured mattress co. in Rochester Mn. I told him what issues I had with my current bed and trusted his expertise in making me a quality bed so go ahead and make me one and ship it . He disagreed and really wanted me to come down and talk to him and go over options. (1 1/2 hour drive). He isn’t just in it for the money he still tries to provide a service. When I asked about delivery fee he said it depends on how many guys he has to send. I offered to help and he gave me a very reasonable price. I am only 8 minutes from home so that was a nice option. I am not a vet but they remove old units free for vets. I have not even gone there yet and am so glad I was able to connect with a local business and am excited about picking out my materials tomorrow. Thanks for the good work you put into this. Also on a funnier note I was in Michigan helping my parents pick out a mattress last week. Took them to a Michigan based mass retailer. I found this one week too late. I am not going to tell them.

As you know I think highly of Chuck and Rest Assured and I think their advice to take the time and test the mattress in person is good and as you mentioned he is more concerned with his customers being happy than with “making the sale”. Your own personal experience and being able to test different materials and different types of mattresses is always a good idea and is more reliable than “theory at a distance” so I think the time it takes to go there will be well worth it IMO.
Your timing with your parents is a little unfortunate but hopefully they made the “best possible” choice in the circumstances and at least you will have some experience with what it’s like to deal with a better manufacturer and you will be in a good position to make some suggestions to others that are also looking for a mattress down the road.
