The sculpting or any surface modifications (such as convoluted foam) will have an effect on the softness, “feel”, and response of the layer. The sculpting will change the softness of the latex layer and the “rate” that it gets firmer as you compress it more deeply. You can read more about convoluted layers in post #2 here.
