The Issue with Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs)

No EMF – No Metal in Our Beds

The Issue with Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs)

An advantage of the CBH Wood bed system is that no metal components are used – meaning no EMF pollution from within the bed. You may ask - Why is this important? The answer is simple. Every piece of metal has an electromagnetic field, whether it is your cell phone, your TV, the springs in your box spring, or the metal frame that your box spring rests on.

Electric and magnetic fields “are invisible areas of energy, often referred to as radiation, that are associated with the use of electrical power and various forms of natural and man-made lighting” (National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences). In the last few decades multiple studies have been conducted, showing the potential impacts these EMFs can have on the human body. A number of such studies can be found here: http://www.powerwatch.org.uk/science/studies.asp

Metal (EMF) vs No Metal (no EMF)

By having no metal in your beds (i.e., no EMF pollution from within the bed), you can provide a place where your whole body, including your subconscious, gets a chance to rest and regenerate (Fig.1).

The second picture is a diagram of what the natural geomagnetic field looks like on any bed that has a box spring unit (Fig.2). The field is distorted and it is strongest in the middle of the bed, the place where we sleep.

The effects of electromagnetism have been widely studied, and they all point to the same conclusion. Whether it is the TV in your bedroom, your cell phone, Wi-Fi, radio tower, windmill, etc., all of these have a negative impact on human health. It is not something we can touch or feel; rather, it affects our nervous system. When we go to sleep to recover from one day and prepare for the next, it is crucially important that our subconscious and our nervous system get equally rested.

Summary

It would be fair to say that people suffering from insomnia do not have to search for very long to find a major contributor to their problem. Other simple but very important measures that can be taken include the following:

  • Remove all electronics from the bedroom
  • Turn off WiFi overnight
  • Do not place your bed under a window or close the door
  • Avoid having big mirrors in your bedroom
  • Avoid having your bedroom above the garage
  • Don’t have your bedroom above the boiler/heater room
  • Avoid having your bedroom above major electric circuitry
  • Check for underground water (dowsing)
  • In short, no EMFs in your bedroom

How we made this work

In order to build a bed that is completely free of metal components (i.e. no EMF from within), a special connection system was developed. It is the first one of its kind and currently has its Patent pending. The connector is made out of fibreglass-reinforced polymers whose strength is comparable to that of a trailer hitch.

This is great information to share with people who know they are EMF sensitive. I can think of a few off the top of my head that I’ll be sure to pass this along to! Especially those who struggle with sleep for seemingly no reason.
