Looking for info on Therapedic mattresses and their quality specifically in the $999 range with about 638 individual pocketed coils. Feels very comfortable in local store but I can’t seem to find any info about them online. The sales person cannot tell me gauge of coils but I do know they are completely surrounded by foam. Any information would be helpful. I did find out many factories produce these mattresses but the one I am looking at was manufactured in Rochester Minnesota.
Hi smmimp14,
You’d want to find out the information listed here so you can compare the quality of the materials and components to the durability guidelines here to make sure there are no lower quality materials or weak links in a mattress that would be a cause for concern relative to the durability and useful life of a mattress before making any purchase.
The retailer you visited should be able to provide this information to you. If they can’t, I would use caution and recommend holding off on considering this particular mattress until you could confirm the specifications with another retailer.
Therapedic, like most mattress manufacturers, has agreements with different licensees throughout the country to produce their mattresses, and they offer hundreds of different models. While Therapedic does have some consolidated “national” lines, they also allow some flexibility for their local licensees to produce products of their own unique specifications to meet demands in their particular region. This is why any information you’d want to acquire should come from your local retailer, and this is why there is no grouping of products in a “$999 range” (pricing is dictated by the retailer and won’t tell you anything about the mattress or quality of materials used within).
The 638 pocketed spring unit more than likely uses the 14 gauge steel, and this wouldn’t generally be the “weak link” of the mattress. They typically have a “step-up” spring unit in their “higher-end” models that is the 858 with foam encasing that is five-zone, at 14.5 gauge steel.
That would be The Bedding Group, Therapedic’s #1 licensee, and they do have a reputation as a quality manufacturer.
If you find out more information about the foam layers within the mattress you’re considering, feel free to share that information and I’ll do my best to comment upon those layers for you.
