So I’m 5’6 250 lb, my partner is 5’4 220 lb, yes we are on the heavy side, yes we are both working on it, anyway, i wanted to look into diy for our first matress we get when we move in together because we both found we liked the avocado mattress with the pillow top but we werent huge fans of the price tag… we probably have about 1400 ish to spend on a mattress, and i was wondering if we could even make a matress for that price that would accommodate both of us

It is better to allow them to work with you on your mission to DIY so you dont make any rookie mistakes.
Remember, it is not just your mattress build that makes a successful sleeping environment. Your foundation, sheet set choice, mattress protector, pillow and material choices are crucial in this decision.
It is said, “A mattress is only as good as its weakest layer” well, a complete bedding set-up is only as good as its weakest component. A poorly designed box foundation, synthetic sheets, or a poorly matched pillow will leave you with the best mattress for your PPP’s (personal preferences, posture & alignment and pressure relief concerns) will leave you in an uncomfortable situation.
So, plan accordingly and discuss all the components you intend on utilizing.
