Thinnest reasonable mattress

I’m setting up an older RV to be my half year residence and need as thin as possible a mattress in the over cab berth.

I’m 6’3" 185lb (bmi 24) side sleeper. Most of the past 30 years I’ve lived on a sailboat with an ever evolving mattress. The latest and quite acceptable solution is a Froli spring base with 4" medium density latex and a 2" memory foam topper. The total height is over 8". The result is quite firm with a plush feel.

The headroom in the RV is about half of what is in the boat, and I need to preserve every mm I can. I am thinking a mix of 2" high density latex, 1" medium density latex, and 3" of memory foam. Is this reasonable? Is there a combo that might come in shorter that I’ll be happy with over time?

Hi Romanystar,

Welcome to the Mattress UnderGround.

I know @EngineeredSleep can custom make you any size RV that you can think of.

Another option is @ONFM springless cotton and wool mattress. I am quite certain they could craft something to your exact measurements too.

@ShovlinMattress, Shovlin and @BeloitMattress can custom make you an RV too.

While there are a lot of TM’s here that can custom make you an RV mattress, these are some that come to mind.

Best of luck on the search, but you are in good hands with any of these folks.

Roman,

The Froli bed system was used with Winnebago 59G. Maybe you can order Froli from Winnebago.

I love the Froli on the boat, and can find it through a couple sources, but it adds ~1.5" to the total height. Im trying for the thinnest possible solution.

Hi @Romanystar - we have lots of options I am happy to go over with you. Feel free to reach out! [email protected]
