I’m 5 foot 3 -1/2, 155 pounds, mostly side sleeper, sometimes back.

TLDR: As someone who understands the meaning of ILDs, relative to weight and size, is there a different 4 layer stack arrangement from the 5 in my possession that would give me slightly more comfort without sacrificing support, than the one shown circled in blue? I have everything except an XX Firm. Unfortunately I don’t have time to try a new stack given their “back in their hands on the 90th day” policy since I’d have to start that process this week to allow for ship time to first get boxes to me, then roll/compress/ package, and ship time back to them all the way across the US. I’d rather make it work if there’s a way but I don’t want to be stuck with a $2500 painful bed.

Details: when I called to change my online order from Q to K, I was told most people who think they want a firm mattress need more comfort than they realize and it’s easier to move a soft layer down and a firm layer up if you find it’s too soft vs. trying to go softer if your DIY stack is too firm, and returns have decreased w/this approach.

I went along with that strongly suggested change from Blue to Red and that first configuration did not work for me, I developed new severe back pain in the first two weeks of trying it. (On this forum I see that only one 3-inch comfort layer is most often recommended so why would they recommend 6 inches to someone wanting a firm mattress?). After giving it ample time to resolve, about 2 1/2 weeks, I called my sales rep to say I needed to exchange one of those 2 soft layers for something firmer and was told to just move the top layer down 1 step. So I gave that a try, but it didn’t work. Then I tried removing the Medium Soft completely and putting Soft directly on top of Firm and developed hip pain, and felt like the mattress was pushing up on me. By the time I tried these 2 changes it was the end of my 60 days exchange. At first they weren’t going to honor it because he started counting from the order date, not when received it. Turns out this is not the published policy so they “gave me an extension” as if it’s a favor to honor their policy even though I initially asked for the change previously but was pushed back on, and they sent me a Medium Firm (another week’s wait time) to swap for.something. After 4 days now it’s definitely better with this configuration in blue, but it still feels slightly firm. I have their wool zip cover which I’ve unzipped to reduce tautness as it breaks in; I also got their mattress protector of quilted cotton on top of that but it is not taut. I’m finding it all sleeps hot.

At this point, they changed their Return policy so my 90 day trial started on order day, despite 8 days shipping, and includes ship time to get packaging out to me and then compress, package and ship the mattresses back to be in their hands on the 90th day. I’m right at that deadline now with no chance to try moving the layers around anymore.

I’m not naming the manufacture because I’d like to have a good relationship with them but as you can probably tell I believe it’s misleading for them to claim “you can rest easy in this online purchase because we have a 90 day return policy.” That’s not a 90 day trial. In reality you’ve got a 60 day trial including trying out changes to the stack, or trying an exchange layer, since they subtract all shipping times from the 90 days.
