I remember reading from of the topics that sales representatives will do anything to get you to buy and make promises they can’t meet… They will do anything to avoid a return. What strings will the sales representative pull to make me keep it, and what can I do to be well prepared?
I want to return the my $4,000 TEMPUR-Cloud Supreme Breeze King Size mattress at Mattress Firm in Houston, TX. They also gave me free set of two twin box springs, bed sheets, and bed cover. The sales representative told me that I have a 120 days to sleep on it, and if I am not satisfied I can return it with no return fee.
It would be normal for a store to do whatever they could to have you keep your purchase. This isn’t always a bad thing, as many businesses will have your best interest at heart and really will want to see if there is anything that they can do to find a product for you that best suits your needs and makes you more comfortable. But if you purchased a product that isn’t appropriate for you and there are no other alternatives that are available for your consideration, and if the store has a clear exchange/return policy for which you qualify, there is no reason that you can’t take advantage of it. Just make sure that you have all of your initial paperwork on hand.
I don’t know if the purchase you made qualifies for the Mattress Firm Sleep Happy Guarantee (I’m not sure if it was a special clearance promotion), so you’d want to contact the store first to make sure. They normally have a $149.00 fee for any returns, and if this was a clearance promotion you may not qualify for a return. Also, they do exclude mattress protectors (any maybe sheets) so you may be responsible for the fees for those. You also need to make sure that your product isn’t stained or unsanitary. They require you keep the item for at least 30 days and then you have up until 120 days for the return. I can’t speak for Mattress Firm, so I would suggest a visit in person to the store where you made your purchase to initiate the exchange. I’ve found that you get the best results being respectful and firm (some people are immediately confrontational, which can bring out a similar defensive posture form a sales associate), and simply ask for help in initiating the return process.
Just in case you did not come across this info on their site…Texas Mattress Makers (One of our Trusted Members which means that I think highly of) has the warranty and refunds page here..
