DIYers or anyone who likes the gel feel of a purple mattress -
I bet this as a top layer underneath a Glaciotex covered, or PCM covered mattress would feel incredible.
Those covers already have a waxy super cool feel and the combination of the two would likely have synergy to create an ultra cool special feel unlike most other beds. For example, placing it in a helix midnight luxe with the upgraded cover, or the midnight or twilight elite.
The only issue with some of these hyperelastic TPE grid materials is long-term durability under repeated heavy loading. While they can feel great initially for pressure relief and cooling, some users report tearing, sagging, or permanent deformation over time, especially in high-pressure zones like the hips and shoulders. Once sections of the grid start to fail, it can create uneven support and lead to back pain. Here is an example of what breakdown can look like.
Like anything, some people will love the feel and others won’t. The technology does have legitimate roots in medical pressure-relief applications for hospitals, wheelchairs, and burn patients where reducing pressure points is important. But those applications are often shorter duration or use-case specific, which is different from nightly long-term mattress use over many years.
The cooling combination you mentioned could absolutely feel impressive at first though. Pairing a TPE grid with a GlacioTex or PCM cover would probably create an unusually cool-to-the-touch surface compared to traditional foam comfort layers. The bigger question is whether the support and structural integrity hold up long term.
