Trigger pulled! New mattress on its way...

First off, let me just thank Phoenix for being the nearly endless source of info that he is. I really avoided making a mistake and saved quite a bit of money as a result of the wealth of information provided here at the Mattress Underground. And I’m now looking very much forward to receiving my new mattress, knowing that I’ve made the right decision! Now I’m going to do my best to continue to check in now and again, report back on my impressions of the new mattress, and stay in touch.

Some takaways from my conversations with Phoenix, reading & research: (1) Please, please avoid big name mattress companies, and most major mattress chain stores. They’re largely carrying inferior products or products at severely marked up prices. (2) Read Phoenix’s introductory post and go from there. It’s a lot of information but it will sink in soon and help you to make an informed decision! (3) Try as many mattresses as you can at smaller local shops nearby if possible, and seek out any local mattress manufacturers - they do exist! (4) Don’t be afraid to order a mattress online - many of them have earned membership here due to being reputable and honest, and their exchange policies should really take the concern out of most purchases!! (5) Only you know which mattress is best for you !!

On to the details of my selection…

Mattress: 10" Natural Latex from Flexus Comfort with Organic cover

Warranty: 30 years non-prorated, 1" depression (!!)

Foundation: Spruce foundation with slat spacing < 3", also from Flexus Comfort

Mattress Configuration (top and middle layers are split, bottom layer is solid):

Right Side

3" Natural Talalay 22-24 ILD
3" Natural Talalay 26-28 ILD

This configuration and cover nearly matches the best of what I had sampled locally. But local pricing just wasn’t competitive, so after a couple phone conversations with Flexus, it was a done deal. I’m extremely happy, and just can’t wait to get a comfy night’s rest!!!

Best of luck to everyone else!!!

Hi LJGMDAD,

Thanks for letting us know what you ended up deciding.

You asked lots of good questions and did some great research and IMO you ended up making a great quality/value choice.

Most importantly … congratulations on your new mattress
