I’ve currently got a Sealy posturepedic plus Gemma for 3 years now. It’s starting to sagg
So instead of being another shitty mattress thatll mostly saggy again in 3 years I’d like to do more of a research and purchase a nicer better quality mattress
I’ve been looking at latex type beds.
My partner and I have a king size
She likes a bit of a plush side, I like more of a firmer side or my back hurts. I am side sleeper and she’s a back sleeper
So I’m thinking of getting a mattress that’ll have inserts that we can change or possibly change either side so that she can have her soft side and I can have my firm side
I have thought about twin XLS too but honestly I’m just in a rabbit hole of mattresses
I’ve thought about sleeping on latex or nature embrace or naturepedic with customized inserts. Obasan
I’m also Canadian so shipping could be an issue.
All honestly I’d be just happy with a good quality base that’ll be flippable, last 5+ years and that I can put comfort layers on top and change when needed. Thanks guys

What you’re describing is exactly what layered latex is built for. The layers are loose, not glued, so a King can be split down the middle inside one cover, with a firmer stack on your side and a softer one on hers. If you’d rather have two fully separate mattresses, a Split King (two Twin XLs) does the same thing, which some couples like for adjustable bases or zero motion transfer.
On a base that lasts with comfort layers you can change later, that’s the whole idea. You don’t flip it, you unzip the cover and swap a single layer when your needs change, and we discount those swaps rather than replacing the whole bed.
As a side sleeper with back pain, you usually want a bit of give on top for your shoulder with firmer support underneath, so it’s worth getting the exact layers right for each of you before you order.
