Update on CozyPure Mattress Cover & Lanoodles Question

Thank you for starting a new thread! I get a bit lost sometimes following the long ones.

I will call Spindle Mattress today. I knew you’d have a recommendation for me

I just called Spindle Mattress. Looks like they are closed Friday-Sunday. I will chat with them on Monday.

According to their website, their prices are WAY BELOW everyone else I have found. Is there a reason for this? They state that their latex is all natural. I also noticed that their assembled mattresses feature soy foam, which is less expensive, isn’t it?

Just curious about their unbelievably low prices…

Hi buttercupbetty,

They carry two types of latex both of which use a continuous pour Dunlop method and are made by Mountaintop. One is synthetic latex and one is 100% natural. Synthetic latex is significantly lower cost than 100% natural latex. Beyond that pricing is based on their cost of materials and on all the other factors that each business uses to decide on their prices. (NOTE ADDED: They now only carry the 100% natural latex made by Mountaintop).

@ Phoenix:

Thank you! Did you say that you have tried Mountaintop Foam? Has anyone else on the forum?

Hi buttercupbetty,

I had a friend who sent me a 1" and a 2" layer so I could see them and get a sense of their overall “feel” and consistency. On was one of their gel latex toppers and they were both a mostly synthetic latex blend. he didn’t know the exact blend or the ILD of either one but it wasn’t important to me because I mostly wanted to get a more general sense of the material. They were both quite soft and had a good consistency and appearance. I haven’t tested them as part of a mattress.

If you do a forum search on Spindle (you can just click this) you will find some of the members that have purchased one of their mattresses and more feedback about them but they would only know the specifics of what they purchased and there aren’t a lot because they are fairly new. In my conversations with Neal he has a good “handle” on how the different types and ILD’s he offers compare to other types and ILD’s of latex so he would probably be the best source of guidance.

@ Phoenix:

On the Spindle website, “soft” dunlop latex is listed as 14-20 ILD. That’s a large range. What are your thoughts? I will get to talk to Neal on Monday for more information, too.

I’m also looking at the dunlop 3" - 7 zone soft 17-20 topper from Spindle. Talked to Neal about it but still can’t really predict how this will feel on my firm Talalay mattress. I need a soft comfort topper with some support. I like the fact that it is zoned because I do need more cushioning in the shoulder and hip area, but he said that it is not always felt by some people, especially for those of lighter weights. I want to stay away from talalay for a topper as I do not want the bounciness on the top of my mattress. I was thinking that a soft dunlop may have a better feel on the top? I also like the feel of less dense polyfoam or hybrid at the top.

I’m also looking at Invigo toppers seen here; http://invigocollection.myshopify.com/collections/toppers

The sports gel topper looks interesting:

Not sure if buttercupbetty is looking for a topper or mattress, but I thought I would add this link.

Diane

Also looking at the Talalay GL slow response 2 or 3" toppers. Trying to find a store to test it out.

Diane

Hi buttercupbetty,

My thoughts are I would talk with Neal who will give you better guidance than I can about how the latex he sells compared to other types of latex based on his own comparative testing, experience, and customer feedback. I have only tried 2 toppers from mountaintop and I don’t know the blend or the ILD of either

I will chat with Neal tomorrow and get all my questions answered

@Diane37:

Yes, the soft topper search has many options, doesn’t it? We are also considering a dunlop latex/wool topper like one of these:

https://www.sleepez.com/latex-mattress-topper-wool.htm
http://www.thecleanbedroom.com/Organic_Mattresses/Mattress_Toppers/Suite-Sleep-Vesta-Natural-Wool-and-Latex-Topper.htm
http://www.thecleanbedroom.com/Organic_Mattresses/Mattress_Toppers/Naturally-Organic-Classic-3000-Wool-And-Rubber-Mattress-Topper.htm

We prefer dunlop to talalay and want to avoid memory foam. With price being a consideration, we might elect to add another latex “plate” to our mattress and add a thin wool topper over the cover. The above options look quite decadent and most of them are at or over $1000. Except for the SleepEZ version.
