Use of heating pad on foam mattress...

Phoenix,

Do you have any thoughts on the effects of using a heating pad on a foam mattress?

I regularly lie on a heating pad because it helps my back muscles (and I like the warmth!).

We have a new Tuft and Needle with not much padding on top. I am a little worried that the heat from the heating pad might not be good for the polyfoam. Do you think the heat might be detrimental to the mattress?

I haven’t worried about this with previous mattresses because we’ve either had thick poly fill mattress pads or foam toppers on top, my thinking was that provided some protection for the mattress underneath.

Any thoughts appreciated.

thanks.

Hi sheep123,

I would avoid the use of a heating pad with memory foam (or at the most use it on the lowest settings for short periods of time) because it can damage a foam that is temperature sensitive but the polyfoam in your Tuft & Needle isn’t temperature sensitive so it should be fine (although you can always check with them to confirm this).
