user interface question re: article titled "The basic functions of a mattress"

Hello,
This site looks like a very interesting and important collection of resources. As I started reading an article here I hit a snag where I have gotten lost in the user interface, as follows: The article on this page https://mattressunderground.com/mattresses/the-basic-functions-of-a-mattresshttps://mattressunderground.com/mattresses/the-basic-functions-of-a-mattress says “We recommend that you read the overviews in order first and then go back and read the individual pages in each section” however this article does not provide a link to the “individual pages in each section” and despite my best efforts attempting to find the “individual pages” I am actually unable to locate the “individual pages.” I was able to find the overviews, but I did not find the “individual pages.” Would anyone please be able to tell me where I can find these “individual pages?”
Thanks for your help!

You can follow the overviews and get into the more detailed individual pages by simply hitting the “Next >” button at the bottom of each page. You linked to the initial page. and the Next button on that page takes you to the overview page. Once on the Overview page you can access the Individual pages by either clicking the “Read more about. ***” button in each section, or simply go through them all in order by using the Next button at the bottom of each page. Hope that helps!

Sorry for my malformed link in my initial post. I’ll try the link again. It should be: https://mattressunderground.com/mattresses/the-basic-functions-of-a-mattress

I’m afraid the next button at the bottom of each overview page only takes me to the subsequent overview page, but does not take me to any page having “more detailed information.”

I’m afraid this does not seem to work. The initial page says that there are 5 different overviews. Here is a copy of where it says this:

I am able to find the “Read more about. ***” button on overview page 1 and overview page 3, however, there is no “Read more about. ***” button on page 2, page 4, and page 5. Each of these 5 overview pages does contain a “Read More…” link Clicking the “Read More…” link takes me to an “overview” topic in the discussion forum. However the “overview” topics seem to be only a word-for-word reproduction of the corresponding overview pages, with some discussion replies. Discussion page number 4 includes a “Read more…” link back to the overview page which sends me back to overview page 4, thus establishing an endless loop that bounces me back and forth between overview page 4 and discussion page 4 each time that I click on “Read more…”

Unfortunately the problem remains that I still have not been able to find the “individual pages” for sections 2, 4, and 5. But apparently in sections 1 and 3 the “individual pages” are linked to via the “Read more about. ***” button.

This is rather discouraging to find that I am unable to successfully navigate this guide. :frowning: Can anyone provide links to the “individual pages” of this guide for sections 2, 4, and 5 of the guide? Thanks!

I also have a follow-up question… Overview Page 5 gives a list of 5 “Steps to Discovering and Buying your Perfect Mattress” and incorrectly states “More details or specifics are included in a separate page for each [step] in this section for those who need it.” However there is no link provided to a more detailed page that elaborates on any of the given steps. The verbiage in Step 1 does link to an article for further reading. The text in step 2 links to a glossary entry. The text in step 3 links to nothing. The text in step 4 links to nothing. The text in step 5 links to a discussion post. So this is the same as my original question: This Overview Page 5 is telling me that I should read more detailed information pages, but it does not provide any links or instructions on how to find these pages that it is telling me I should read. This is really confusing and frustrating :frowning: Thanks for any help you can provide.

Okay, well I’ve finally reverse-engineered this interface. It turns out that in the site header, there is a menu titled “MATTRESS SELECTION PROCESS” and if I hover my mouse pointer over this menu, it immediately (or at least as fast as Javascript can work…) drops down and gives me a hierarchy of pages and sub-pages which appear to correspond to the “overview” pages and the mystery “detail” pages that I previously couldn’t find. Moreover, and this is very helpful for persons who are not color-blind, my current “location” within this hierarchy is highlighted in a different color than the other pages, thus giving me feedback and confirmation as to where I actually am in the hierarchy at any given time, so I’m no longer completely lost in this hierarchy of pages. It’s a bit cumbersome to have to mouse up to this pop-down menu to see where I am - It would be more convenient if this navigation would be always displayed on the pages instead of hidden in the site header, but hey, it’s there and it’s better than nothing, except for the millions of potential users who are colorblind, in which case it’s not as useful. Without the visual feedback confirming what page you’re looking at, it could be difficult for some users to realize where they are in the page navigation hierarchy at any given time. If there could be an indicator that does not rely on color vision (such as underlining the current page that is being displayed) that would be nice for the millions of people who are colorblind, and again, it would be most helpful if this navigation would not be hidden in the site header, but were instead displayed on each page, or were otherwise made more prominent on each page. Thanks! I can finally read about mattresses now!

Update: I checked out these pages on a mobile device - the mobile version of this web site is terrible. On mobile, the site header menu does allow you to navigate between the pages without having to pick through the random inconsistent and confusing user interface elements presented on each page, but the site header menu does not show you which page you’re currently on, in fact it incorrectly suggests you’re on pages that you’re not actually on (by turning the title of these pages to a different color.) It’s funny, this is a lot like the mattress situation - we have lots of manufacturers and vendors and sales people who don’t know anything about mattress technology. And then the people who do know about mattress technology don’t know anything about user interface technology, so their attempt to share what they do know is hindered by an ineffective user interface. yikes.
