Ordered my Savvy Rest mattress through a somewhat local retailer. The price was a little more expensive than purchasing the mattress I wanted from SleepEZ, but thought it would be easier for me if I needed to exchange layers, rather than have to ship them back and forth through the mail. I didn’t ask for the Mattress Underground discount because they were somewhat price matching, and I didn’t get the free pillows that I would’ve with SleepEZ. They did match the 90 days exchange on the layers, though. The big difference was, I was told it would be TWO WEEKS for delivery!!
As this mattress is a crucial part of my recovery from extensive recent back surgery, TWO WEEKS SEEMS FOREVER!! I have been sleeping on an Ikea foam mattress that is a bit too firm and making the best of it, but I called Sleepworks (the retailer) last week and asked when delivery would be. They said it would be delivered to the store on Tuesday, and they would get it delivered to me as quickly as possible after that. Well, today is Tuesday, and just called Sleepworks TWICE. The girl said she knows it was shipped on 08/30/13, but doesn’t know anything else after that. She said this is a new supplier, and that’s causing some confusion. Well, I just about HIT THE ROOF. Am I crazy, or this a ridiculous period of time ???
I told her I could bought the mattress from a competitor at a lesser price, gotten it IN TWO DAYS, AND gotten a set of free pillows!! They have not offered me anything to compensate for this ridiculous period of time, either.
The contract I signed for the mattress says “no cancellations” but I did put it on my credit card which offers me some recourse… I told my husband this morning that if the mattress is not scheduled for delivery by the end of this week, I’m cancelling. I’m going back to work next Monday, and I need some decent rest now that I will be taxing my back ALL DAY LONG.
What do you guys think?? Should I cancel it?? How long is a reasonable period of time to wait for a new mattress???
You are in a contractual situation. If your contract has a delivery date and they miss it, you may have a right to cancel, but you would have to prove they breached the agreement. Contracts are complex and you have to read the whole document. If it is silent on delivery, then I would say you cannot just cancel. Your best bet in that case is to call the manager of the store and talk it out/reach agreement. The worst thing for you would be to cancel unilaterally, buy somewhere else, and then end up stuck with the original order as well. It sounds like you have a very legit reason to want it delivered on time. I would call the owner of the store and make your concerns known and more importantly, your requirements. Then follow up with an email to the store summarizing the conversation and any agreements.
Hi, I bought my savvyrest from a New Jersey based retailer on Monday, got delivery on Thursday. Couldn’t have been any faster - I am on the east coast and so is savvyrest, just down the coast in Maryland I believe. I’d say it depends on your retailer. U can try savvyrest direct too - their number is on their website.
I’m curious as to the configuration you selected for yourself and significant other. Did you need any adjustment period, or did it just feel good right from the start? I simply cannot WAIT to get mine!!!
As for my contract, it does say there is a 30% restocking fee, so I guess I’m not cancelling it and losing $1,000. I am just pissed because the salesman said that he would put the order in ASAP so that we would get it a week later, instead of two weeks. I spoke with them a third time today, and the woman said “Well, I found out that it’s here – in Bay Shore…” (meaning it was finally shipped to the area) and I said, “But I want it HERE – in my bedroom – so I can actually sleep on it…” She promised delivery would be on Thursday, so I’m praying she’s right. No one can understand the pain that I am in, day after day – and sleeping without the correct spinal alignment after having back surgery, is definitely not helping the situation!! Why it would take two weeks to get the bed shipped to their store is still beyond my comprehension! Believe me, if this bed is not delivered on Thursday, as promised, I will definitely be speaking to the manager!! I don’t even care anymore – I’ll go out there and bring everything home in my van – I just can’t take it anymore!!
Savvy Rest isn’t a member of the site so they don’t provide a discount to the members here. In some cases they may not have any idea that the site even exists unless you were to tell them about it.
When you purchased the mattress, if they said it would be two weeks and if they deliver it on Thursday that would be right around the 2 week mark so I don’t understand why you would be upset when they are keeping to the terms of their agreement with you.
The time to question all of this would be before a purchase not after it. It appears to me that they went out of their way to accommodate you with lowering the price (which they normally don’t do) and there is no doubt that they provided you with good service in the store. You are responsible for the decisions you make and from my perspective they have lived up to their side of the bargain.
A reasonable time is what you agree to when you make the purchase with some leeway in case of unforseen circumstances. It will also depend on the retailer and the delivery cycles that they go by. If someone tells you that a mattress will be two weeks (which seems quite reasonable to me) and you agree to it then that’s what is reasonable. If you were to agree to 6 weeks then that’s what would be reasonable. If it were to take a few days longer that would be disappointing but it still wouldn’t be unreasonable IMO.
I think you are being premature and somewhat unfair in your criticisms or in even considering cancelling the order when they haven’t done anything that I can see that would warrant either.
