Was ready to make a purchase but this forum threw me for a loop

From what I have been reading looks like a clear winner seems to be flobeds vzone. Now that is on sale now but even than it is on the expensive side around 4K for a king. I understand they don’t have any show rooms other than a small shop in California so no way to test the bed. I tried calling today and even though they are suppose to be open they didn’t pick up the phone which does not give me a warm and fuzzy feeling for future support. Having said all that it looks like they do have a unique design that no one else is offering. But does that justify the cost? Are they making their own foams or they are cutting and rebranding? Also are there people here who have been a long time customers and how have your experience been?

Do people use spring boxes or their support that also seems to be over priced at around 1800 some dollars?

One more question was if I get the mattress they will ship it but what do I do with my old mattress do I have to pay some one to get rid of it? Normally mattress stores haul away the old mattresses.

Thanks for all your help.

Great thoughts on the Vzone! I think today (May 8, 2022)is the last day of the $800 off the Vzone…so if you want it…order today. Worst case scenario is that you don’t like it and your are out $200 in shipping charges.

Hi MrKool.

Welcome to our Mattress Forum.

Indeed, they are a small father-son run shop and usually very good about being responsive. It may be worth another call or email. They receive raw latex to their facility and cut each piece two ways daily for their custom orders as well as their extensive ILD testing, then barcoding and packaging. Because they don’t order bulk supply like larger manufacturers, you run into a higher cost of doing business. I hope that helps in some regard.

As for long time customers, I do hope people chime in! We’ve had a number of recent happy FloBeds customers leaving their thoughts here in the forum.

Ultimately, you’re going to want to use a wood base with no more than 3" between slats, but it doesn’t have to be the base they sell on their site.

Many folks that come on here to TMU are people that are having issues finding the right bed for them (due to body shapes, injuries, medical, etc) so when you see alot of folks optiing for a certain solution you have to consider there may be a reason for it. The primary reason why the Flobeds V-zone gets alot of mention is because it is somewhat unique in the marketplace (at least currently). What makes it unique is the level of alignment customizability you can achieve with it (again keeping in mind that folks with easier to fit situations or not having mattress issues likely aren’t on TMU researching options). There’s only 2 manufacturers of talalay latex foam in the world (Radium in Europe and Talalay Global in the US), I believe Flobeds uses the latter currently. As far as what’s special about Flobeds, well there’s alot of custom design that does go into their beds (cover, v-zone layer, etc) but they also have a 20 Year Goldilocks Guarantee which is great for you but they need to account for in the up front pricing. So again, yes, it’s quite expensive (but does go on sale a few times per year) for one of their mattresses but many folks are tired of being on the mattress merry-go-round and just want something durable that works for them. Obviously if you prefer hybrids or poly/memory foam construction instead you’d have to look elsewhere for possible solutions.
